Senator Sue Lines was born on December 15, 1953, in Western Australia.

Senator Sue Lines has represented Western Australia since 2013 and is President of the Senate from 2022.

She served as Vice President of the Senate and Chair of Committees from 2016 to 2022.

Sue Lines was the first female Labor Senate President and became the second female President, after Liberal Senator Margaret Reid, in 1996.

Ms. Sue Lines' first official visit to Vietnam as President of the Australian Senate took place in the context of the Vietnam - Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership developing well.
