National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue receives leaders of economic groups from Bulgaria and Denmark

The National Assembly Chairman said one of the focuses of the delegation's visit is to seek opportunities and promote trade, investment and business activities.

During the official visit to Bulgaria, on the morning of September 25, in the capital Sofia, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received leaders of SoPharma Group (Bulgaria), Mr. Dimitar Naydenov, Director of M&A (mergers and acquisitions); Ms. Krasimira Vandeva, CEO of Bulgaria headquarters, DSV Group, Denmark.

Receiving leaders of the two corporations, the National Assembly Chairman said that one of the focuses of the delegation's visit is to seek opportunities and promote trade, investment and business activities between Vietnamese enterprises and Bulgarian enterprises in particular and with European corporations in general.

Mr. Dimitar Naydenov, leader of SoPharma Group, said that SoPharma has been established and developed for 90 years and is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Bulgaria. In addition to the largest market share in Bulgaria, the company has exported to many countries around the world.

Assessing Vietnam as a potential market that the company is aiming to expand investment in, considering Vietnam as a gateway to the ASEAN market, Mr. Dimitar Naydenov shared that the group has worked with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health to learn information to promote investment and drug production in Vietnam.

With a history of about 30 years of cooperation in Vietnam, SoPharma Group's goal in the coming time is to expand the market, so it hopes that Vietnamese authorities will consider and grant licenses with more favorable procedures for many of SoPharma's pharmaceutical products.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated SoPharma's cooperation in Vietnam in recent times, and said that Vietnam considers investing in protecting, caring for and improving people's health as investing in development. The Vietnamese market has surpassed the 100 million population mark, thereby giving businesses the opportunity to penetrate the ASEAN market with 650 million people - the world's 5th largest economy.

The Vietnamese National Assembly has passed the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, which is a favorable development foundation for the pharmaceutical industry in general (for both domestic and foreign enterprises). The law takes effect from January 1, 2024, and is related to the content of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.

In addition, the Vietnamese National Assembly plans to amend the Law on Pharmacy, including reviewing, licensing drugs, and distributing pharmaceuticals in Vietnam. Before amending this law, the National Assembly agreed to extend the use of registration certificates for circulation of drugs and pharmaceutical ingredients (about 14,000 drugs and pharmaceutical ingredients) until December 31, 2024.

Emphasizing that time is power, the National Assembly Chairman said that Vietnam always improves the investment and business environment to attract foreign investment.

Accordingly, the group can seek and cooperate with Vietnamese partners to learn about the laws, conditions for circulation and distribution of pharmaceuticals, etc.; invest and research the production of drugs for the treatment of tropical diseases in the Vietnamese market, Southeast Asia and Asia in general. In addition, the group can learn and research the production of veterinary drugs, which is also a field that Vietnam is in need of, so there is a lot of potential for investment cooperation.

Receiving Ms. Krasimira Vandeva, CEO of DSV Group (Denmark) headquartered in Bulgaria, the National Assembly Chairwoman wished to hear the opinions of businesses on cooperation opportunities and potentials, especially at the Law and Policy Forum on promoting bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria taking place in the capital Sofia on the same afternoon.

Director Krasimira Vandeva expressed her honor to meet the National Assembly Chairman and believed that DSV Group would become a cooperative partner of Vietnamese enterprises. The group's representative said that DSV is one of the Danish groups operating in the world's leading transportation sector in all three forms: road, water and air.

The company currently has 1,600 offices in more than 80 countries around the world. In 2001, the group entered Vietnam and has offices in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong.

As an international freight transport enterprise, the group's representative recognizes the responsibility in promoting global freight circulation, affirming that one of the missions is to strive to operate in the best way, ensuring the supply chain operates smoothly in the current volatile global context.

In addition to developing transport and logistics, the DSV Group is actively digitizing its service business to further facilitate the development of international trade and actively participating in the transformation to achieve the goal of net zero emissions. The Group has set a target of reducing its internal operations by 50% by 2030.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the group's mission and goals, as well as the fact that the group has opened offices in cities in Vietnam. Informing businesses about a dynamically developing Vietnamese economy with an economic scale currently ranked 38th globally and a high growth rate, the National Assembly Chairman said that this reality will create conditions for further cooperation in the field of transport.

Currently, the contribution of the transport and logistics sector is still quite low, and the logistics costs that businesses are having to bear are quite high. Therefore, Vietnam wants to increase the growth rate and contribution of the two transport and logistics sectors to GDP, which will help reduce costs for businesses.

The National Assembly Chairman also informed about infrastructure projects, seaports, and highways that Vietnam has actively invested in and developed in recent years; it is trying to complete about 2,000 km of highways early.

The National Assembly Chairman stated that businesses entering the Vietnamese market will open up more opportunities to access the dynamic ASEAN market with about 650 million people, and affirmed that the National Assembly and the Vietnamese Government always pay attention to and create favorable conditions for investment and business activities of enterprises.

This working delegation includes the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade in charge of foreign investment and logistics, ready to listen to recommendations from businesses to increase cooperation opportunities with Bulgarian businesses in particular and European businesses in general.
