At the reception, the National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the US Treasury Secretary's visit, meetings and working sessions with the Prime Minister, Head of the Central Economic Commission, Minister of Finance and Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam; and suggested that the two sides continue to promote relations through all channels: Party, State, parliament and people-to-people exchange; further strengthen parliamentary cooperation channels, exchange of high-level delegations at all levels, and establish cooperation mechanisms between legislative bodies commensurate with the relationship between the two countries.

Regarding trade and investment cooperation, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two sides actively coordinate to establish and implement new and more effective bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms. Affirming that Vietnam does not pursue a trade surplus policy with the United States, the National Assembly Chairman stated that Vietnam has continued to perfect its legal system, improve the investment and business environment, and create favorable conditions for US businesses to operate long-term and successfully in Vietnam; sharing that he has repeatedly discussed with US congressmen and businesses about the desire to raise the ranking of US investment in Vietnam.

The National Assembly Chairman proposed that the United States recognize Vietnam's market economy status, limit technical measures and trade defense measures to facilitate the export of Vietnamese goods to the United States; the Ministry of Finance and the US Government take measures to support Vietnam in improving its position in the global supply chain in the current trend of diversification and restructuring of trade and investment; the two governments cooperate to form a number of supply chains in which Vietnam has potential and demand and the United States has strengths.

Regarding cooperation in responding to climate change and energy development, the National Assembly Chairman proposed that the United States support Vietnam in a fair energy transition, especially financially, to ensure balance and harmony of interests and costs of the State, people and businesses in the energy transition roadmap, and in the immediate future, allocate resources to effectively and substantially support the JETP program and initiatives and cooperation projects within the framework of the Mekong - US partnership.

The National Assembly Chairman also asked the United States to support Vietnam in strongly developing the digital economy, digital government, digital society, safe digital transformation and meeting sustainable development requirements.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said she will carefully study the issues mentioned by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and respond specifically to issues that can be implemented immediately in the near future.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen appreciated the progress that Vietnam has made in recent times in implementing the “Action Plan on Exchange Rates and Information Transparency”. The two sides had positive and constructive dialogue and wished to continue cooperation in this field.

Regarding the supply chain issue, the US Treasury Secretary said that the Biden administration gives high priority to important partners like Vietnam to ensure stability and increase the resilience of supply chains.

Welcoming Vietnam and its partners to issue a Political Declaration establishing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) in December 2022, Secretary Janet Yellen appreciated Vietnam's positive steps to implement this Declaration, emphasizing that the United States supports Vietnam in accessing multilateral financial resources, as well as private financial resources to implement the energy transition process.
