The Prime Minister of Thailand highly appreciated the significance of the visit to Thailand by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-Thailand Strategic Partnership, helping to create momentum for the development of increasingly deep and substantive cooperation between the two countries. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin sent his warm regards to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; emphasizing that Vietnam is one of Thailand's very important partners in the region. The National Assembly Chairman informed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin of some outstanding results of the talks with the Thai National Assembly Chairman, emphasizing that the signing of the Cooperation Agreement by the two National Assemblies will further promote the relationship between the two Parliaments, contributing to strengthening the Strategic Partnership and hoping that the two countries will soon upgrade the relationship at an appropriate time. The Thai Prime Minister affirmed that he will visit Vietnam in 2024 and agreed to upgrade the bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two leaders assessed that cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand is developing rapidly and effectively in all key areas; trust is increasing. Notably, in ASEAN, Thailand maintains its position as the largest trade partner (two-way turnover in 2022 reached a record of nearly 22 billion USD) and the second largest investor (nearly 14 billion USD) in Vietnam; cultural and people-to-people exchanges are increasingly vibrant. The two sides agreed to continue promoting delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels; effectively implementing signed agreements, including the Action Program to implement the Vietnam - Thailand Enhanced Strategic Partnership for the 2022 - 2027 period; striving to soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 25 billion USD in a balanced direction and reduce trade barriers.
