The visit of the National Assembly Chairman took place from December 3-7, at the invitation of President of the Japanese House of Councilors Sekiguchi Masakazu.

Welcoming the delegation at the airport were: Senator Makino, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Japanese House of Councilors; Senate officials; Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu and his wife, Embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan.

It is expected that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will hold talks with Senate President Sekiguchi Masakazu and House of Representatives Speaker Nukaga Fukushiro; meet with Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru; greet the Emperor and Empress; and, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, present the Medal of the President of Vietnam to a number of former Japanese leaders.

The National Assembly Chairman will also receive leaders of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, leaders of major Japanese political parties, a number of former leaders and prestigious politicians who have contributed to the relationship between the two countries; leaders of several large Japanese corporations and enterprises; meet with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy and Consulate General and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan.

In particular, it is expected that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Senate President Masakazu Sekiguchi will sign a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Japanese Senate. This is a very important premise to promote the relationship between the two legislative bodies to new heights in the coming years.

The visit of the National Assembly Chairman took place on the occasion of the two countries celebrating one year of upgrading their relations to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World”.

Vietnam - Japan relations continue to develop strongly and comprehensively in all fields with high political trust and close exchanges at high and all levels.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man's visit to Japan will further deepen Vietnam-Japan relations within the framework of new cooperation, especially between the two countries' legislative bodies, creating strong momentum for development in the field.
