National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife successfully concluded their official visit to the Republic of Armenia.

At exactly 9:45 a.m. this morning, April 5 (local time), that is, noon of the same day in Hanoi, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, along with the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly, left the capital Yerevan, successfully concluding their official visit to the Republic of Armenia, and headed to Tashkent, Uzbekistan to attend the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly and pay an official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan at the invitation of IPU President Tulia Ackson and IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong, and President of the Senate of the Uzbekistani Parliament Tanzila Narbaeva.

Seeing off National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife and the high-ranking delegation of our country at Zvartnots International Airport were: Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia Sargis Khandanyan; Armenian Ambassador to Vietnam Suren Baghdasaryan; leaders of the Foreign Affairs Department and Protocol Department of the National Assembly of Armenia.

Within the framework of the first official visit of the Head of the Legislative Body, which is also the first visit of a high-ranking Party and State leader to Armenia since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan and met with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan; and received Chairman of the Armenia-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group Hasmik Hakobyan.

During the talks and meetings, the highest leaders of Armenia expressed their joy and honor to welcome National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to the Republic of Armenia; emphasizing that this was the first visit by a high-ranking Vietnamese leader since the two countries established diplomatic relations and the very important significance of the visit, not only opening a new page for parliamentary cooperation, but also creating momentum to expand bilateral cooperation in all fields, for the development interests of the people of the two countries.

Pleased to see the bilateral relationship being strengthened through high-level delegation exchanges from both sides, during the talks and meetings, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and senior leaders of Armenia had in-depth discussions on major orientations and specific measures to promote bilateral relations in the coming time. In particular, they agreed to continue promoting high-level delegation exchanges and all-level exchanges, including business channels, to effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms and agreements, bringing the relationship between the two countries into depth and substance.

Emphasizing that economy and trade are important pillars in bilateral relations, both sides agreed that the potential for cooperation between the two countries is still very large. Accordingly, it is necessary to further promote economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, creating favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to learn about each other's markets, especially for agricultural, aquatic and seafood products of Vietnam to enter the Armenian market; paying attention to Armenian export products such as wine, processed foods and metals...

The two sides also agreed to promote cooperation in new areas such as science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), green transformation, etc.; actively and effectively implement the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to create strong and breakthrough changes in bilateral economic and trade cooperation; create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to exchange, explore investment opportunities, establish cooperative relations and penetrate each other's markets. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that Armenia discuss with member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union to work with Vietnam to effectively exploit the Free Trade Agreement, remove technical barriers so that goods of the two sides can easily access each other's markets.

One of the outstanding results of the visit was that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan signed the first-ever Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Armenian National Assembly, creating a legal framework for enhancing cooperation between the two legislative bodies in the coming time.

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations of National Assembly leaders, cooperation activities between National Assembly agencies, Friendship Parliamentarians' Groups, Young Parliamentarians' Groups, Female Parliamentarians' Groups, and National Assembly deputies of the two countries; strengthen cooperation, information exchange and experience sharing between specialized committees and National Assembly deputies in parliamentary activities, especially in the fields of legislation and supervision; strengthen supervision and urge the effective implementation of bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements that the two governments have signed or participated in, especially agreements that help promote economic and trade cooperation, etc.

The two sides agreed that economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has seen positive growth in recent years, especially since the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) took effect in 2016. Two-way turnover in 2024 reached nearly 500 million USD, but is not yet truly sustainable.

To further promote cooperation in this field, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed that Armenia create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to access the Armenian market and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), especially through the cooperation mechanism within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the EAEU of which Armenia is a member; increase information exchange on policies and markets; create favorable conditions for enterprises of the two countries to participate in investment and trade promotion activities, specialized fairs, and international exhibitions held in each country; study and remove difficulties for enterprises of the two countries when investing in each other's markets; soon exchange lists of goods that each country needs to serve the diversification of bilateral import and export activities in which the two sides have potential and strengths.

Affirming that the two countries still have much potential and room to promote cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, education - training, transportation, local cooperation and people-to-people exchange, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between other localities of the two countries to make the most of the potential of the localities, contributing to cooperation between the two countries in general...

During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended and delivered an important speech at the Vietnam - Armenia Business Forum. The National Assembly Chairman and his wife, along with the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation, visited Yerevan State University; visited the National History Museum; and visited a number of typical economic and cultural establishments of Armenia.
