National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man receives Head of Armenia - Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group

Within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Armenia, on the morning of April 3 (local time), in the capital Yerevan, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Head of the Armenia - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group Hasmik Hakobyan.

Head of the Armenia-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group Hasmik Hakobyan expressed his pleasure to meet National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation during his official visit to Armenia; highly appreciated the fact that the two countries' National Assemblies have established Friendship Parliamentary Groups; affirmed that he will make every effort to promote cooperation between the two Parliamentary Groups in particular as well as the relationship between the two countries' National Assemblies in general.

The Head of the Armenia-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group was pleased to see that cooperation between the two countries' parliaments has continued to be maintained and strengthened in recent times with bilateral contacts and contacts on the sidelines of multilateral conferences and forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), etc.

Although bilateral trade turnover has increased in recent times, the Head of the Armenia - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group said that the two countries still have a lot of potential and advantages to exploit, promote and improve the effectiveness of cooperation in the field of import and export of agricultural products, vegetables, tobacco, etc. At the same time, he hoped that Vietnam would soon open an embassy in Armenia and the two countries would soon have a visa exemption agreement for citizens to promote people-to-people exchange; soon open a direct flight between the two countries, creating conditions to promote trade and investment cooperation.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his delight to represent the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam in leading a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit the beautiful Republic of Armenia with many outstanding architectural works bearing the mark of history and culture.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Armenia; wishes to promote comprehensive and long-term bilateral cooperation, especially in the context of the increasingly complicated international situation. The Party, State and people of Vietnam are always grateful for the valuable support that the Armenian people have given Vietnam in the past struggle for national independence and in the current national construction and development.

Appreciating the continued promotion of bilateral relations through high-level delegation exchanges from both sides, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized that Vietnam supports Armenia in strengthening cooperation with ASEAN, is ready to act as a bridge to promote Armenia's cooperation with ASEAN countries, and wishes to closely coordinate with Armenia to actively contribute to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The National Assembly Chairman stated that the Vietnam-Armenia relationship has made positive progress in many areas in recent times. Vietnam and Armenia always have sincere feelings and trust for each other despite the complicated changes in the world today. The National Assembly Chairman thanked and appreciated the fact that Armenia always attaches importance to developing cooperative relations with Vietnam, considering Vietnam an important partner in the Southeast Asian region.

Informing that the Vietnamese National Assembly has just established the Vietnam - Armenia Friendship Parliamentarians' Group, chaired by Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office Le Thu Ha, the National Assembly Chairman believes that the two Friendship Parliamentarians' Groups will actively operate, acting as a bridge to promote exchanges and experience sharing between parliamentarians, female parliamentarians and young parliamentarians.

Acknowledging the proposals of Head of the Armenia-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group Hasmik Hakobyan, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said he would assign relevant agencies to study and consider them as soon as possible.
