
On the afternoon of April 17, at the National Assembly House, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with nearly 140 typical examples, representing nearly 53,000 employees of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam).
Reporting to the National Assembly Chairman at the meeting, the leader of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group said that in recent years, Petrovietnam has had many breakthrough solutions in management and operation of production and business activities, continuously setting new records in the history of the Group's formation and development.

By the end of 2024, the total revenue of the Group will exceed 1 million billion VND, an increase of 36% compared to the period before the Covid-19 pandemic (2019) and equivalent to about 9% of the country's total GDP; State budget contribution will reach 165 trillion VND, equivalent to nearly 9% of the country's total budget revenue, an increase of 52% compared to the period before Covid-19.
Petrovietnam's total revenue in the 2020-2024 period reached over VND3.5 million billion, achieving a growth rate of 16.7%/year; the Group's total contribution to the State budget in this period reached over VND599 trillion, a growth rate of 21.2%/year; Petrovietnam's consolidated pre-tax profit reached over VND238 trillion.
Speaking at the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his joy at meeting typical examples of the oil and gas industry at the National Assembly House in the atmosphere of the whole country looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), with oil and gas workers in the common joy and their own joy as they are about to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their establishment.

In 2024, in the context of many difficulties at home and abroad, our entire Party, people and army have strived to achieve many achievements. The scale of the economy reached 476.3 billion USD; GDP growth reached 7.09%, per capita income reached nearly 4,700 USD; state budget revenue reached more than 2 million billion VND; import-export turnover reached nearly 787 billion USD and many other outstanding achievements.
In that common achievement, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized the important contribution of the Vietnam Oil and Gas industry, now the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group.
After listening to the report of the Group's leaders and the opinions of the officials and workers who are typical examples of the oil and gas industry, the National Assembly Chairman warmly commended Petrovietnam for its efforts to compete and achieve many high results.

In particular, responding to the implementation of the Emulation Program "Oil and Gas Innovation" in the period of 2024 - 2028, after 1 year of implementation, there were 3,432 innovative products, the value of which reached nearly 8,000 billion VND; 3 projects and clusters of projects received the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Science and Technology, 3 projects received the State Prize... The National Assembly Chairman said that these are vivid proofs of the Group's intelligence, courage, and spirit of innovation and creativity.
The National Assembly Chairman also highly appreciated the fact that the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group has recently made many practical contributions to social security work across the country, contributing to the construction of schools, bridges, roads, houses of gratitude, solidarity houses, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, storms and floods, etc.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, acknowledging and praising the excellent results that the Group has achieved, the National Assembly Chairman also respected and praised those who are working day and night on the front line of the national energy industry and nearly 140 typical examples of the oil and gas industry attending the meeting.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to state-owned enterprises in general and the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group in particular. The recent renaming of the Group also aims to help the Group develop more strongly in the future, becoming the country's leading Group.
The National Assembly Chairman said that in the meeting this afternoon (April 17), the National Assembly Standing Committee reviewed and gave opinions on submitting to the National Assembly for consideration and approval of amendments to the Law on Management and Use of State Capital Invested in Production and Business at Enterprises (Law 69) at the upcoming Ninth Session to create a transparent mechanism and remove difficulties for production and business activities so that corporations and state-owned enterprises can truly play a leading role in the economy.

Along with that, the National Assembly has been focusing on amending many laws in the spirit of removing bottlenecks to boost production and business, bringing our country into a new era, an era of national growth, with the immediate goal of achieving a GDP growth rate of 8% this year.
Announcing the major and important tasks that the Party, the State and the entire political system are focusing on and resolutely implementing, the National Assembly Chairman acknowledged the recommendations and proposals of the Oil and Gas industry at the meeting; at the same time, he hoped that the Oil and Gas industry would continue to promote the cultural tradition of "fire seekers", always carrying within itself the aspiration to contribute and the competitive spirit of "Good workers - Creative workers", sustainable and breakthrough development.

“We must have our own aspirations to rise, the aspirations of the industry to rise to contribute to the development of the country”. With this spirit, the National Assembly Chairman requested the Group to thoroughly study and implement Conclusion 76-KL/TW of the Politburo on the strategic orientation for the development of the Vietnam Oil and Gas industry to 2025 and vision to 2035.
“Now that it is the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group, its functions and tasks have changed. We must update and add new functions and tasks, contributing to ensuring the implementation of the “five words of security”: national energy security, economic security, food security, security, national sovereignty at sea and social security,” the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.
Along with that, the Group continues to reform, innovate, and apply advanced management methods to improve governance efficiency, manage resources, enhance competitiveness; and continue to restructure and organize businesses.
Focus on innovation in the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo, synchronize institutional reforms, perfect and implement solutions to ensure feasibility and increase labor productivity.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the Group must take the lead in applying science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; he believes that in the current context, any enterprise that promotes this issue will develop quickly and sustainably, contributing more to the economy and society.
The Group continues to improve the efficiency of capital use and investment management; practice thrift and optimize resources; proactively respond to market developments; maximize savings on investment costs for projects and works; review investment activities with focus, key points, and invest correctly, accurately, and effectively; strengthen inspection, supervision, auditing, and auditing to prevent corruption and waste.
The National Assembly Chairman also asked the Group's leaders to continue creating a better environment for workers and laborers, and to care for their material and spiritual lives so that workers can fully develop their creativity.
Regarding the Trade Union, the National Assembly Chairman suggested continuing to innovate its organization and operations, promoting enthusiasm for workers, accompanying businesses, and always being a solid and trustworthy support for workers and laborers in the oil and gas industry.
The National Assembly Chairman believes that with solidarity, unity, determination, resoluteness, and determination, the entire oil and gas industry will bring about even greater results and contribute more to the country's development.
