National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man meets with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong

According to VNA special correspondent, within the framework of his official visit to Singapore, on the afternoon of December 2, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

At the meeting, the Singaporean Prime Minister welcomed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on his first official visit to Singapore as Chairman of the National Assembly, at a time when the relationship between the two countries is developing very well in many areas, with a solid foundation of political trust and close economic, trade and investment ties. The Singaporean Prime Minister expressed his belief that the visit will provide major orientations, contributing to creating momentum for the development of bilateral relations in the coming time.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said he would soon visit Vietnam in 2025 and respectfully requested the National Assembly Chairman to convey an invitation to General Secretary To Lam to visit Singapore at a suitable time.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sincerely thanked Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Singaporean leaders for the warm and thoughtful reception given to the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly; respectfully conveyed the regards and best wishes of health from General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated the ruling People's Action Party on successfully organizing its Congress and electing a new leadership; he believed that with the additional position of Secretary-General of the People's Action Party, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong would lead Singapore to achieve even greater achievements in socio-economic development, successfully implementing its own signature agendas, notably the "Forward Singapore" program, thereby enhancing Singapore's position in the region and on the international stage.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his gratitude to the Singaporean Government and businesses for supporting Vietnam in overcoming the severe consequences caused by Typhoon Yagi last September; emphasizing that this is a clear demonstration of the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership and the friendship and sharing between the leaders and people of the two countries.

Looking back over 50 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership, the two leaders affirmed that the Vietnam-Singapore relationship has continuously developed, reaching many important milestones in all fields; political trust has been consolidated through effective maintenance, regular exchange of delegations and high-level contacts; agreed that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to coordinate closely, soon bringing the relationship between the two countries to a new height.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the results of bilateral economic cooperation, notably Singapore maintaining its position as the second largest investor in Vietnam with more than 3,800 projects and a total accumulated investment capital of more than 81 billion USD; the network of 18 Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) in 13 Vietnamese provinces and cities is a symbol of successful economic cooperation between the two countries.

With that solid foundation, the two leaders affirmed their determination to further promote this important pillar of cooperation, through enhancing information exchange, sharing experiences in handling new issues in socio-economic development; promoting investment on the basis of promoting the strengths of each country, especially in developing a sustainable and smart VSIP 2.0 system, creating breakthroughs in new growth areas such as green logistics, data center construction, semiconductor chip manufacturing, clean energy, carbon credits, food security, green finance, etc.

The two leaders also agreed to promote and expand security and defense cooperation in a more practical and effective manner; and discussed measures to boost cooperation in other important areas such as education and training, culture, and people-to-people exchange, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.

Pleased with the Singaporean Prime Minister's positive assessment of the role and contributions of the Vietnamese community in the country, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked and requested the Singaporean Government to continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses, investors and about 25,000 Vietnamese people in Singapore to live, work and study conveniently, contributing to the development of bilateral relations as well as actively contributing to the socio-economic development of Singapore.

Discussing international and regional issues, the two sides agreed to continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums and organizations, and strive to maintain solidarity and unity in the central role of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in strategic issues that impact the security and development of the ASEAN Community and countries in the region, including the East Sea issue.

On the same afternoon, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife, along with the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly, visited Gardens By The Bay - a natural park with an area of ​​over 100 hectares, located in the central area of ​​Singapore, considered the "spring garden" on the island nation of Singapore. This giant garden is not only a masterpiece of architecture, design and art, but it is also a green lung in the heart of the city, with an extremely rich and diverse flora ecosystem. Gardens By The Bay is part of the Singaporean Government's strategy to turn the "Lion Island" into the world's leading "green" country.
