National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man meets with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni

King Norodom Sihamoni said that this state visit to Vietnam is very important and has historical significance, aiming to further consolidate and expand the increasingly strong relationship between the two countries and peoples.

On the afternoon of November 28, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, who is on a state visit to Vietnam.

On behalf of the National Assembly and people of Vietnam, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man warmly welcomed the King and the high-ranking delegation of Cambodia to visit Vietnam.

The National Assembly Chairman congratulated the King of Cambodia on his successful meeting with General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; emphasizing that the King's visit this time brought to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam the warm friendship of the brotherly Cambodian people, demonstrating the deep affection of the King and Cambodian people for the leaders and people of Vietnam, actively contributing to the continuous consolidation of the "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability" relationship between the two countries.

The National Assembly Chairman congratulated Cambodia on successfully organizing two important international conferences: the 12th Plenary Session of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP 12) and the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP 11); and thanked the King, leaders and people of Cambodia for their warm and respectful reception of the National Assembly Chairman's delegation during their official visit to Cambodia and their attendance at these two conferences.

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni thanked the warm welcome that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man gave to the delegation; said that the King personally and the Cambodian people still remember the official visit to Cambodia (from November 21-24, 2024) of the National Assembly Chairman, thereby contributing to strengthening the long-standing relationship between the two peoples, opening up new cooperation in all fields between the two countries.

On this occasion, King Norodom Sihamoni respectfully conveyed the regards, deep affection and best wishes of Her Majesty Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the Vietnamese people; the warm and cordial regards of President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), President of the Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen; President of the National Assembly Samdech Khuon Sudary and Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

King Norodom Sihamoni said that this State visit to Vietnam is very important and has historical significance in order to consolidate and further expand the traditional friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries and peoples. From the past to the present, the people of Cambodia and Vietnam have always been good neighbors, cooperating and helping each other for the common interests of the two peoples, actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

King Norodom Sihamoni affirmed that the historical tradition of the two countries' relations has shown that the late King Norodom Sihanouk and senior Vietnamese leaders have laid the foundation and built a solid bridge of friendship for the good relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia. Today, Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, the King himself, along with President of the Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the National Assembly Samdech Khuon Sudary, Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet and other senior Cambodian leaders are the ones who continue and promote that traditional cooperative, solidarity and friendship relationship.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that generations of Vietnamese leaders and people always cherish and remember the good feelings and valuable support and assistance that the late King, Queen Mother, King, generations of Cambodian leaders and people have given to the country and people of Vietnam in the past struggle for national independence as well as in building, protecting and developing the country today.

The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the King, in his noble position, will continue to foster that good relationship, and at the same time pay attention to supporting extensive propaganda and educating the young generations of the two countries to deeply understand the bond and solidarity between the two countries and the two peoples.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that he will work with the Vietnamese National Assembly to make every effort to continue to strengthen cooperation in legislation, supervision and decision-making on major national issues with the Senate and National Assembly of Cambodia.

The National Assembly Chairman wished the King good health and continued leadership of the Cambodian people to achieve even greater achievements in the cause of national construction and development, soon achieving the goal of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.

Through the King, the National Assembly Chairman respectfully conveyed his regards and best wishes to Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary and Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet; and said that the Vietnamese leaders and people wish to welcome the Queen Mother and the King to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.

On this occasion, King Norodom Sihamoni expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for helping the Cambodian people escape the genocidal regime in the past, as well as in the cause of national construction and development today; he believes that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will develop comprehensively in all fields, contributing to consolidating Vietnam's prestige and role in the international arena, contributing to peace, stability and development in the ASEAN region and the world./.
