Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group (Petrovietnam), formerly Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, was renamed according to Decision No. 733 dated April 9, 2025 of the Prime Minister. This is not only a name change, but also demonstrates the continuous development and growth as well as the strategic development orientation of Petrovietnam in the coming time; expanding the operating space, enhancing the role and position not only in the traditional energy sector but also in the industrial, new energy and nuclear energy sectors.
After more than 64 years of establishment and development, Petrovietnam has now become the country's leading economic group. In 2024, Petrovietnam's total system revenue exceeded 1 million billion VND for the first time, equivalent to 9-9.2% of the country's GDP. Every year, Petrovietnam contributes 8.0 - 9.0% of the total state budget revenue, making a very important contribution to the over-fulfillment of the country's budget revenue plan in recent years.
The total number of employees of Petrovietnam is nearly 53 thousand people with the rate of over 59% having high-quality human resources (university and post-graduate). Labor productivity reaches nearly 19 billion VND/person/year - the highest level compared to economic groups in the country.
Petrovietnam is also the only Vietnamese enterprise to have won prestigious awards for scientific research, including: 3 Ho Chi Minh Awards and 03 State Awards for Science and Technology (accounting for more than 20% of the total awards nationwide); 28 VIFOTEC awards (2 First prizes) and 4 international inventions.
In addition, with a sense of responsibility, promoting the core values of the Oil and Gas People's culture: "Aspiration - Intelligence - Professionalism - Affection", in order to promote solidarity, discipline, arouse the sense of responsibility, join hands to act with the community, every year, Petrovietnam participates in social security work with an average of 500-700 billion VND/year.
