At exactly 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, October 17, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly arrived at Wattay International Airport, Vientiane Capital, to begin an official visit to the Lao PDR and attend the 45th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45) at the invitation of Lao National Assembly Chairman and AIPA President Saysomphone Phomvihane.
This is the first official visit to the Lao PDR as Chairman of the National Assembly of Comrade Tran Thanh Man, which is of special importance and significance to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Welcoming National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly at Wattay International Airport, on the Lao side were: Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Sommad Pholsena; Vice Chairman of the Lao Foreign Affairs Committee Vandee Butthasavong; Deputy Secretary General of the Lao National Assembly Akhom Praseut and relevant agencies.
On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, along with many officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the Lao PDR.
According to the program, in the afternoon of the same day, right after arriving in Vientiane, at the Lao National Assembly House, Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane will preside over the official welcoming ceremony for National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly on an official visit to the Lao PDR.
Next, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane will hold talks.
During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will pay a courtesy call to General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith; meet with Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and many other important meetings and contacts.
At the high-level talks and contacts, the two sides will discuss and agree on cooperation directions in the coming time to deepen the bilateral relationship, making it more effective and practical, especially further enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation between the two National Assemblies, and exchanging and coordinating stances on a number of regional and international strategic issues of mutual concern.
The visit once again affirms the consistent policy of the Party and State of Vietnam to always give the highest priority and attach importance to developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; affirms Vietnam's strong and comprehensive support for the cause of innovation, protection and construction of Laos; and at the same time demonstrates the trust and closeness between the two countries' senior leaders as well as between the two National Assembly Chairmen personally.
