(Dan Tri) - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam supports the efforts of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties in creating an environment of peace, security and stability in the region.

On the morning of November 22, the 12th Plenary Session of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) with the theme "In Search of Peace and Reconciliation" opened in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man led a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State to attend the conference and delivered an important speech affirming Vietnam's consistent stance in supporting ICAPP's efforts in creating an environment of peace, security and stability in the region.
Also attending the conference were representatives of political parties from 39 countries in the region and around the world.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Chairman of the ICAPP Standing Committee Chung Eui Yong said that the world is witnessing many geopolitical, socio-economic pressures and challenges, and conflicts between countries that are detrimental to economic growth and the world's peaceful and stable environment.
All these challenges are hindering the realization of the vision of peace, stability and prosperity, affecting the fundamental foundations of the world based on compliance with international law and the United Nations Charter, slowing down the progress achieved in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

As a special guest attending the conference, speaking at the opening session, on behalf of the Communist Party of Vietnam, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the leading role of Cambodia and the President of the Cambodian People's Party Samdech Techo Hun Sen in the mechanism of this year's international conference of Asian political parties to contribute to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment for common prosperity and development in the region.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man pointed out that the world is undergoing many great changes with rapid and complex developments. In particular, in recent times, political instability, violence and conflicts in the world have been increasing, with scope and impact beyond national borders. Along with that are climate change, food security, water security and a series of non-traditional security issues such as transnational crime, terrorism, smuggling, human trafficking, etc.
This reality reflects enormous obstacles to world peace and human security, and at times even threatens the common prosperity of Asian nations.
The National Assembly Chairman said that Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have continued to make many efforts, actively and proactively put forward many initiatives to contribute to the common efforts to resolve security and political issues of the international community. In particular, seeking peace and reconciliation for disagreements, disputes and conflicts; actively striving for peace, security, common prosperity and development of all mankind is both the goal and the international responsibility of each party and each country.
In that context, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the 12th International Conference of Asian Political Parties with the theme "Seeking Peace and Reconciliation" demonstrates the efforts and commitments of political parties in the region to build solidarity, join hands in cooperation, and contribute to promoting the resolution of conflicts and hotspots.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized: "As ruling parties, participating in politics, having a voice and a role in strategic planning and policy implementation, we need and can fully promote our common strength through the International Conference of Asian Political Parties to realize the common goal of peace, security, prosperity and development in the world in general and the Asian region in particular."
The National Assembly Chairman stated that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations, is ready to be a friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community; and supports the efforts of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties in creating an environment of peace, security and stability in the region.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the key to peacefully resolving current disagreements and conflicts is through dialogue and multilateral cooperation on the basis of equality, mutual respect, and mutually beneficial cooperation, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
Before attending the opening ceremony of the conference, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, members of the ICAPP Executive Committee, leaders of the 12th ICAPP Plenary Conference, and leaders of political parties/partner organizations paid a courtesy call to President of the Cambodian People's Party, President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Honorary President of the 12th ICAPP Plenary Conference, and Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party, Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Hun Manet.
