National Assembly Chairman: Dak Nong has the potential to become a bauxite center

On the evening of March 23, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Dak Nong province held a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the province's founding (2004 - 2024). Attending the ceremony were Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of the National Assembly; Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Minister, and leaders of a number of central ministries and branches.

Focus on preventing and combating corruption and negativity

Speaking at the 20th anniversary of the founding of Dak Nong province, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that Dak Nong is an ancient land, located on the M'Nong plateau and holds a very important position in terms of economy - society, national defense and security of the Central Highlands and the whole country. This is also a land rich in cultural identity, endowed by nature with a climate and soil favorable for agricultural and tourism development. There are many potentials and advantages, especially bauxite minerals, to develop into the bauxite - alumina - aluminum and post-aluminum industrial center of the whole country.

The National Assembly Chairman noted that Dak Nong needs to urgently implement the provincial planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, through specific programs, plans, projects, and tasks. By 2030, Dak Nong strives to become a fairly developed province in the Central Highlands.

At the same time, the Dak Nong provincial government is requested to closely coordinate with central ministries and branches to remove obstacles related to mineral planning in the area. "In addition, exploitation must be associated with the management and effective use of resources, minerals, environmental protection, and effective solutions to adapt to climate change; focusing on increasing forest coverage to achieve the goal of green and sustainable development," Mr. Hue emphasized.

Thousands of people in Dak Nong came to watch the 20th anniversary of the province's founding.

With its important position, Dak Nong province needs to continue to maintain national defense, security, and border sovereignty.

The National Assembly Chairman requested Dak Nong to focus on preventing and combating corruption, negativity and waste. Continue to promote administrative procedure reform and improve the investment and business environment.

Rising from a poor, backward province

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ngo Thanh Danh, Secretary of Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee, said that at the time of the province's establishment, Dak Nong was one of the poor localities, with a low starting point, backward economic structure, weak infrastructure, the province's potential strengths had not been exploited, and rural security had potential risks of instability.

After 20 years of establishment, Dak Nong province has escaped the status of a poor province, with outstanding marks such as: economic growth rate always reaching high level, total product scale increased 12 times, total investment capital for social development increased 20 times; average income per capita increased 13 times compared to 2004.

Up to now, the foundation of the national bauxite mining, aluminum smelting and post-aluminum industry has been formed, the orientation towards the region's renewable energy center has been put into practice. Agriculture has developed in the direction of high technology application, concentrated production. Tourism has been gradually invested to become the spearhead of the economy.

"Currently, the province is closely coordinating with Binh Phuoc and other ministries and sectors to promote the early implementation of the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway project, which promises to create new momentum for the province's development," said Mr. Ngo Thanh Danh, adding that over the past 20 years, the province has always consolidated and maintained the fields of national defense, security, and border sovereignty. The friendly relationship with the neighboring province of Mondulkiri (Cambodia) has also been constantly nurtured.

At the 20th anniversary of Dak Nong province's founding, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of the National Assembly, awarded the First Class Independence Medal to the Party Committee, government and people of Dak Nong province.
