National Assembly Chairman chairs meeting on preparations for the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians

The National Assembly Chairman stated that the successful organization of the Conference is not only an achievement of the National Assembly, young people and young parliamentarians of Vietnam, but also promotes the image of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends.

On the afternoon of June 27, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue chaired a meeting on preparations for the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians.

Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, Head of the Conference Organizing Committee; Deputy Heads of the Conference Organizing Committee: Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong, Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha, Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Group of Young National Assembly Deputies of Vietnam, leaders of ministries, branches, Hanoi People's Committee... attended the meeting.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and delegates listened to Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha report on the progress of preparations for the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians.

Accordingly, up to this point, the Organizing Committee has established 3 Subcommittees and supporting groups. The Organizing Committee has coordinated with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Secretariat to agree on the general theme of the conference: "The role of youth in promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through digital transformation and innovation". The conference is expected to have 4 discussion sessions.

The National Assembly Chairman and delegates focused on reviewing each topic in detail, clarifying the content of each discussion session, organization, logistics, reception...; the participation of the Vietnamese delegation at the Conference and each discussion session, and activities on the sidelines of the Conference.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that, based on the Project approved by the Politburo, the National Assembly Party Delegation and the National Assembly Standing Committee established the Conference Organizing Committee headed by National Assembly Permanent Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man. Immediately after that, the Organizing Committee established sub-committees to carry out preparations for the Conference.

The National Assembly Chairman said that he had directly worked with a number of relevant ministries and branches such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Central Youth Union, listening to many comments on the topics, content, and organization of the Conference, thereby proposing the general topic of the Conference and the main content of the discussion sessions on digital transformation, innovation, and promoting cultural and human factors in sustainable development, finding links between these three topics.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the Organizing Committee and Subcommittees for completing a large amount of work to prepare for the Conference; commended the sense of responsibility and dedication of ministries, agencies and units in participating in preparing for the Conference.

At the same time, the National Assembly Chairman requested the Foreign Affairs Committee to study the experiences and good practices of other countries in the previous 8 times of organizing the Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference; continue to review and clarify the title, content and content of each discussion session as well as the framework of the Hanoi Declaration; actively prepare to deploy booths displaying OCOP products and innovative products of Vietnam, and promote information and propaganda work in many forms.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that this is a global conference of young parliamentarians, the subject of the conference is parliamentarians. The Organizing Committee must work with each Subcommittee, have conclusions for each working session to serve as a basis for ministries, branches, and National Assembly Committees to implement.

In particular, it is necessary to have a master plan on content, develop detailed plans and programs, clearly assign tasks to each sub-committee and each relevant agency; clearly identify the responsible focal point, completion deadline, progress of each task, and continuously review the implementation work.

Based on the theme of the Conference agreed upon with the IPU Secretariat, the National Assembly Chairman said that the discussion sessions should be organized in a sequential manner, not in parallel, with a separate session before the closing session reserved to review, absorb, and revise documents submitted to the Conference for approval.

Emphasizing that the Conference is an important multilateral foreign activity of the National Assembly during the 15th tenure, the National Assembly Chairman stated that the successful organization of the Conference is not only an achievement of the National Assembly, young people and young parliamentarians of Vietnam, but also promotes the image of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends.

Therefore, the Conference Organizing Committee and Subcommittees must focus all their efforts on preparation work to ensure the successful organization of the Conference.
