On the evening of January 5, Chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly Rossen Dimitrov Jeliazkov and a high-ranking delegation of the Bulgarian National Assembly arrived in Hanoi, beginning an official visit to Vietnam from January 5-9, at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
Welcoming the delegation at the airport were: Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Law Committee Ngo Trung Thanh; Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Vietnam Pavlin Todorov; Ambassador of Vietnam to Bulgaria Do Hoang Long.
The delegation included: Ms. Denitsa Sacheva, Vice President of the GERB-SDS Parliamentary Group, Chairwoman of the Labor, Social Policy and Population Committee; Mr. Hristo Gadzhev, Member of Parliament of the GERB-SDS Parliamentary Group, Chairman of the Defense Committee; Mr. Stoyan Mihalev, Member of Parliament of the “We continue to change - democratic Bulgaria” Parliamentary Group, Vice Chairman of the Culture and Communication Committee, Chairman of the Bulgaria - Vietnam Friendship Association.
The delegation also included Ms. Neli Dimitrova, Member of Parliament of the Parliamentary Group “We continue to change - Democratic Bulgaria”, Member of the Committee on Children, Family, Youth and Sports; Mr. Angel Georgiev, Member of Parliament of the Parliamentary Group of the Renaissance, Member of the Committee on Foreign Policy and the Committee on Culture and Media; Mr. Hamid Hamid, Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Group “Movement for Rights and Freedoms”, Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy and Innovation, Member of the Bulgaria - Vietnam Friendship Association.

Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament Rossen Dimitrov Jeliazkov was born on April 5, 1968. Education: Master of Law, Sofia University. From 2003 to 2007, he was Secretary of the Sofia City Council; Secretary General, Council of Ministers from 2009 to 2013. From 2014 to 2016, he was Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister on Public Administration and E-Government. In 2016, he was Director of the State Agency for E-Government; Chairman of the Communications Regulation Committee in 2017. In 2018, he was Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications. From April 2023 to present, Mr. Rossen Dimitrov Jeliazkov is the Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament.
This is the first official visit of the Chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly to Vietnam in nearly 12 years, in response to the official visit to Bulgaria by Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue in September 2023; an important highlight in the Vietnam - Bulgaria cooperation relationship, especially when the two countries' National Assemblies have just signed and implemented a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation.
The visit of the Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament Rossen Dimitrov Jeliazkov contributes to strengthening and further cultivating the good political relationship between the two countries through the channels of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government and people-to-people exchange. This will be an opportunity for the two sides to discuss international and regional issues of mutual concern, strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in a practical and effective manner, especially in a number of areas where both countries have strengths such as trade - investment, education - training, health care, culture, tourism, labor and cooperation between localities.
