President Vo Van Thuong's visit to Italy takes place in the context of Vietnam and Italy celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1973 - 2023) and 10 years of strategic partnership (2013 - 2023).
According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Duong Hai Hung, the state visit to Italy by President Vo Van Thuong has many important meanings, marking the 50th anniversary of the friendship and good cooperation between the two countries, and at the same time creating a new impetus to promote the relationship between the two countries to develop even more strongly in the coming time.
Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro said that President Vo Van Thuong's visit to Italy will renew political relations between Italy and Vietnam, contributing to orienting and strengthening bilateral cooperation in all fields.
During the visit, President Vo Van Thuong and Italian President Sergio Mattarella are expected to hold talks.
The President will also have important meetings with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and witness the signing of cooperation documents between the two countries; meet with President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana; meet with Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri; and attend a concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam- Italy diplomatic relations.

President Vo Van Thuong will visit Florence and meet with the Mayor of the city; meet with the President of the Tuscany region. President Vo Van Thuong is also expected to meet with General Secretary of the Italian Communist Party Mauro Alboresi and leaders of several other organizations.
During his visit to the Vatican, President Vo Van Thuong is expected to attend an official welcoming ceremony at the Vatican; meet Pope Francis; and meet Vatican Prime Minister, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
