Here, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu reported on the work of the Embassy. Accordingly, in carrying out the tasks assigned by the Party and State, the Embassy has made efforts to contribute to promoting the relationship between the two countries, promoting the strengthening of political trust, and participating in careful preparations for high-level visits by leaders of the two countries. Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu said that Japanese political parties and sectors attach great importance to the relationship with Vietnam.

Carrying out one of the central tasks in recent times is economic diplomacy, in the context of the complementary economies of Japan and Vietnam, with little direct competition, the Embassy has supported businesses and localities of the two countries to connect and cooperate effectively, and this is a highlight of this year. Not only that, the fields of science and technology, digital transformation, green transformation, new energy, and e-commerce have also been promoted by the Embassy to connect and cooperate in the direction of joint research, joint development, creating an equal and mutually beneficial partnership.
“The number of young Vietnamese intellectuals in Japan is increasing, actively contributing to the local community and all wishing to contribute to their homeland and country, serving as a bridge to promote relations between the two countries,” said Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu.

According to the Ambassador, with a great demand for labor, Japan is actively cooperating with Vietnam in this field. Currently, the number of Vietnamese people working in Japan is about 400,000 people. Since the beginning of 2023, it has increased by 70,000 people. The Embassy is making efforts to promote and send Vietnamese people to work in Japan.
It is estimated that there are about 520 thousand Vietnamese people living and working in Japan, and this number is increasing rapidly. In the past and in the future, the Embassy has always strived to do a good job of protecting citizens in the host country.

Speaking at the meeting, President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the Embassy's staff for actively carrying out the tasks assigned by the Party and the State and achieving positive results. The President informed about the domestic situation in recent times, achieving many outstanding and positive results, especially emphasizing the success in the field of foreign affairs on all channels of the Party, State and people. There were unprecedented foreign affairs events, including US President Biden's state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the two sides issued a Joint Statement upgrading the two countries' relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Regarding the official visit to Japan, President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that this is a very meaningful visit in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and this year the two sides have organized up to 500 commemorative activities.
Previously, Crown Prince Akishino and the Princess paid an official visit to Vietnam, conveying to the President the Japanese Emperor's message on the bilateral relationship and the Vietnamese President's invitation to an official visit to Japan this time. These are the two most important events in the year celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.
The President emphasized that the Vietnam-Japan political relationship is very deep, and the leaders all wish to elevate the relationship, for the sustainable development of the two countries and the interests of the two peoples.
In that spirit, the President asked the Embassy to effectively implement the policies and agreements between the two countries, including those reached during this visit.

One of the important contents is to continue promoting cooperation between the two countries, helping Vietnam participate more deeply in Japan's global production and supply chain, making Vietnam a "stronghold" in Japan's production chain; promoting Japan to continue providing ODA support to Vietnam; promoting bilateral cooperation in the fields of science and technology, education and training, defense, security and other fields.

In the context that Vietnamese and Japanese people always love and have good feelings for each other's people, the Head of State of Vietnam suggested that the Embassy should promote cultural and people-to-people exchange activities, especially promoting the role of nearly 100 pairs of localities establishing friendly and cooperative relations.

With the number of Vietnamese people in Japan increasing and the number of 520,000 Vietnamese people in the country, the President requested the Embassy to properly implement citizen protection requirements.
The President said that in the context of complicated developments in the world and the region, the Embassy also needs to do a good job of forecasting, grasping the situation, and advising the Party and State on measures to promote Vietnam-Japan cooperation more effectively.
“The high requirement is to speak correctly and well about tomorrow, not to speak correctly and well about yesterday,” the President emphasized.
