President Vo Van Thuong is about to go to the US to attend the APEC Summit Week.

(Dan Tri) - President Vo Van Thuong and his wife will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week from November 14-17.

The above information was announced by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang at a regular press conference on the afternoon of November 9.

Accordingly, at the invitation of US President Joe Biden, President Vo Van Thuong and his wife will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week and combine bilateral activities in San Francisco, USA.

The period lasts from November 14 to 17.

According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the President's working trip takes place in the context of the 30th anniversary of the first APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting held in the US (1993-2023).

At the same time, the event marks 25 years of Vietnam joining APEC (1998-2023).

With the theme of creating a resilient and sustainable future for all, APEC 2023 focuses on three priorities: connecting to build a resilient region and promote inclusive economic prosperity; promoting an innovative environment for a sustainable future; and strengthening an equal and inclusive future for all people.

During this trip, President Vo Van Thuong will attend the APEC Summit, dialogue between APEC leaders and the APEC Business Advisory Council, dialogue between APEC leaders and guests; deliver a speech at the APEC CEO Summit and have bilateral meetings with leaders of APEC economies.

"On the bilateral front, the President's visit takes place in the context of the strong development of Vietnam-US relations in recent times, with the two countries establishing a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework on the occasion of President Joe Biden's State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong," said Ms. Hang.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also reiterated that during US President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam in early September, the two sides signed many cooperation agreements on economics, science and technology, and education and training, including trade contracts with a total value of over 10 billion USD.

Therefore, the bilateral activities of President Vo Van Thuong in the US aim to implement cooperation agreements between the two countries' senior leaders during the visit to Vietnam by US President Joe Biden and promote US support in education and training, science and technology, innovation, and enhance cooperation between localities, between the two countries, and people-to-people exchanges.
