The official visit to Japan of President Vo Van Thuong and his wife Phan Thi Thanh Tam and a high-ranking delegation from November 27-30 was a great success.
Notably, during the visit, President Vo Van Thuong and Japanese Prime Minister jointly issued a Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam-Japan relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World.

During the visit, the President attended an official welcoming ceremony hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio in Tokyo and then held talks, witnessed the signing of cooperation documents and met the press.
President Vo Van Thuong and his wife met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress, the meeting lasted nearly 1 hour longer than expected.
The Head of State also delivered an important speech at the Japanese National Diet - the oldest legislative body in Asia; met with House of Representatives Speaker Nukaga Fukushiro and House of Councilors President Otsuji Hidehisa.

Not only that, taking place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, President Vo Van Thuong and his wife, along with Japanese Crown Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko, Speaker of the House of Representatives attended the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
The Head of State also met with the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance; former Prime Minister, Vice President of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP); President of the Komeito Party; President of the Japanese Communist Party; and a group of parliamentarians who are close friends of Vietnam.

President Vo Van Thuong and his wife also had a friendly meeting and breakfast with Japanese homestay families who had welcomed Vietnamese youth through the Vietnam-Japan youth exchange programs.
The meeting was attended by homestay families from many localities across Japan; including the family of Mr. Sato Shigemitsu and Ms. Sato Ikuko (Akita province); the family of Mr. Nagai Atsuo and Ms. Nagai Yuko (Miyazaki province).
The President and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation also attended an exchange program between Vietnamese Vovinam martial arts and Japanese martial arts.

During the visit, the Head of State visited Fukuoka Prefecture, in the Kyushu region, the first time the province has welcomed a head of state. Fukuoka is a land favored by nature, with favorable weather, and is less affected by earthquakes and tsunamis, so the province has many potential advantages for economic development. In particular, this is also the final gateway to mainland Asia and a place of trade between Japan and several other countries.
At the meeting, leaders of the Kyushu region and Fukuoka province affirmed their desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese localities and to receive more high-quality workers and Vietnamese technical interns to work in the province.
The President also visited Kyushu University and the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology Research and Development Center.

In Tokyo and Fukuoka, the President and his wife also visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and met with the Vietnamese community in Fukuoka. In particular, the meeting between the Head of State and representatives of generations of Vietnamese people in Japan who have made many contributions took place in a friendly and open atmosphere.
The President and his wife also enjoyed Vietnamese bread and coffee with Japanese officials in the heart of Tokyo and expressed pride in the growing number of young Vietnamese people full of enthusiasm, patriotism, diligence in learning and efforts to seize development opportunities in Japan.

During his four days in Japan, the President had nearly 40 effective activities with Japanese leaders and officials and localities, contributing to promoting effective bilateral cooperation in the coming time.
On the afternoon of November 30 (local time), President Vo Van Thuong and his wife led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation back home, successfully concluding their official visit to Japan.
