That was the information given at the press briefing on the National Scientific Conference celebrating the 50th anniversary of national reunification organized by the Ministry of National Defense in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security, the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

The conference had the theme of the Great Victory of Spring 1975 with the new era of development of the Vietnamese people, with the participation of about 700 delegates with 119 presentations.

Notably, there were speeches by President Luong Cuong, General Phan Van Giang, General Luong Tam Quang, General Nguyen Tan Cuong... and many leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, and revolutionary veterans of different periods.

In addition, the conference will have the participation of 6 historical witnesses, including 2 witnesses who directly participated in the general offensive and uprising in the spring of 1975 who will give speeches: Major General Nguyen Ngoc Doanh and Ms. Hoang Thi Khanh.

The workshop aimed to affirm and clarify that the Great Victory of Spring 1975 was the crystallization of the aspiration for peace, the will to unify the country, the Vietnamese mettle and intelligence, and the strength of great national unity under the wise leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh.

The event will provide many documents and scientific arguments to clarify the preparation process, the development of the campaign, the role of coordination between forces, the brave fighting spirit of the army and people of the whole country, especially the South, along with valuable lessons in the resistance war against the US to apply to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new period.

Colonel Le Thanh Bai, deputy director of the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and History, said the conference will take place on April 20 at the Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Officials' Hall.
