President: Implement policies to increasingly meet the aspirations of overseas Vietnamese

On the evening of January 19 in Hanoi, President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with 1,000 overseas Vietnamese from 42 countries and territories, attended the Spring Homeland art exchange program, with the theme "Vietnam - Rising up in the new era".

In his New Year greetings to overseas Vietnamese, the President shared his joy and emotion at meeting them again in the jubilant and exciting atmosphere of the first days of the new year 2025 and preparing to welcome the spring of At Ty in the thousand-year-old capital Hanoi - the city for peace, the capital of conscience and human dignity, the heart of the whole country. He affirmed that the Party, the State and our compatriots in the country always pay attention to and follow the situation of overseas Vietnamese and was excited to see that in the past year, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, even at times of insecurity in some areas with war and natural disasters, our compatriots still kept their hearts steadfast, nurtured their will, and strived to build a better life.

"Many of our compatriots have affirmed their position in the local society, some of whom have been recorded on the world intellectual map. This is a clear demonstration of the valuable qualities of the Vietnamese people: courage in the face of difficulties, resilience in the face of adversity, the will to rise up in the face of storms; affirming the increasingly solid position of the Vietnamese community in the international arena," the President stated. President Luong Cuong also did not forget to mention the spirit of national solidarity and mutual love that overseas compatriots have for the Fatherland and compatriots at home, which was clearly demonstrated during the historic Yagi storm last year.

According to the President, 2025 is a year with many important anniversaries for our Party and people, especially the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification. Looking back on history, there are few nations in the world that bear as many war wounds as Vietnam, but there are also few nations whose history is written by successive feats like the Vietnamese nation.

"We have risen, "shaken off the mud and stood up to shine", confidently reaching out to the ocean, joining the flow of humanity", said the President. The President emphasized that in the great achievements of the nation, there is always the important cooperation and contribution of our compatriots abroad.

He noted that looking to the future, Vietnam is preparing a solid foundation for our country to confidently enter a new era, an era of development. With a glorious history of thousands of years of building and defending the country, Vietnam must make the most of this historic opportunity. "Every Vietnamese citizen, whether at home or abroad, should join hands to contribute to this great journey of the nation," he called. President Luong Cuong affirmed that our Party and State always pay special attention and care to our compatriots abroad, the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part, an important resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community. "The policies and guidelines related to overseas Vietnamese will continue to be implemented more comprehensively and strongly in the coming time, clearly demonstrating the sentiments and responsibilities of the Party and State in increasingly better meeting the legitimate aspirations and wishes of our compatriots abroad, creating motivation to encourage our compatriots to rise up, build a good life, foster and nurture the spirit of patriotism, love for the nation, preserve the Vietnamese language and culture - the soul of our thousand-year-old Vietnamese nation," he emphasized. After delivering his New Year greetings, the President beat the drum to open the spring festival.
