On July 3, President To Lam received Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki on the occasion of starting his term in Vietnam.
President To Lam was pleased with the important and positive progress in the bilateral relationship in recent times. Multifaceted cooperation has become increasingly close, connected, exchanges and delegations at high and all levels have taken place regularly, economic cooperation continues to be the main pillar, and human resource exchanges and connections have become increasingly close.
The President assessed that the two countries have many cultural similarities and many potentials and advantages to complement each other for mutual development.
Vietnam wishes to work with Japan to substantially and effectively implement the recently upgraded Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework, meeting the interests and aspirations of the people of the two countries and actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
President To Lam asked Ambassador Ito Naoki to effectively promote his role as a policy proposer and an important bridge in the bilateral relationship; and actively coordinate to concretize the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Ambassador Ito Naoki expressed his pleasure to begin his term in Vietnam in the context of the remarkable progress in the relationship between the two countries in recent times.
The Ambassador emphasized that the most important task during his time working in Vietnam is to deepen the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership towards the next 50 years, focusing on economic cooperation, human resource training, cultural exchange, local cooperation and tourism.
Ambassador Ito Naoki affirmed that he will closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to implement agreements and common perceptions between high-ranking leaders of the two countries, contributing to the increasingly comprehensive and substantive development of Vietnam-Japan relations.
On the same afternoon, President To Lam received Belarusian Ambassador to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou who came to greet and congratulate the President on the occasion of assuming his new position.

The President affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the relationship with Belarus, which has been nurtured by the leaders and people of the two countries since the Soviet era and has continued to be promoted over the past 30 years.
Vietnam always considers Belarus a friend and trusted partner, appreciates the help that the Belarusian people have given Vietnam in the past, and is determined to continue to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Belarus.
The President highly appreciated the results of cooperation in recent times, including promoting the Intergovernmental Committee mechanism in implementing cooperation agreements.
Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou affirmed that Belarus attaches importance to the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries and wishes to strengthen cooperation in all fields of politics - diplomacy, economy - trade, culture, education and people-to-people exchange, especially between the young generations of the two countries.
The Ambassador highly agreed with the directions for promoting cooperation proposed by the President, including the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, and the enhancement of people-to-people exchanges, including culture and tourism, especially after the Agreement between Vietnam and Belarus on visa exemption for ordinary passport holders comes into effect.
