During his visit and working program in Cao Bang province, on the afternoon of June 9, President To Lam and the Central Working Delegation visited, encouraged and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of the Soc Giang Border Guard Station, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province.

The delegation included Party Central Committee members: Chairman of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of National Defense Hoang Xuan Chien; and representatives of leaders of a number of central and local departments, ministries and branches.

Soc Giang Border Guard Station was established in October 1959 with the task of managing and protecting a border section of more than 20 km, 55 national border markers; maintaining security and order in the area of ​​Soc Ha and Truong Ha communes, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province. Over the years, with the attention of the Party, State, ministries, central agencies, local authorities, the grassroots political system has always been firmly consolidated, operating effectively and efficiently, and the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved. The border situation under the post's management is always stable, territorial sovereignty, the border system, and national border markers are managed, protected, and maintained. The authorities and armed forces of the two sides regularly coordinate, exchange, maintain and strictly implement the Agreement on Border Management Regulations, cooperate in economic, cultural and social development, contributing to building a peaceful, stable and developed border.

Speaking at the meeting, President To Lam expressed his pleasure to visit the Soc Giang Border Guard Station, a heroic unit of the armed forces, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Border Guard's Traditional Day (1959 - 2024). The President commended the unit for successfully completing assigned tasks, including many important tasks; effectively implementing the guidelines and policies of the Party, the State, and the People's Army in the border area.

The President emphasized that officers and soldiers of the Soc Giang Border Guard Station have promptly grasped developments and situations; organized patrols, protected national sovereignty, maintained border security, contributed to ensuring general security and order of the country and locality; at the same time, well implemented foreign policies and guidelines; contributed to maintaining a peaceful and friendly border.

The President highly appreciated the achievements of border guards in the fight against crime; coordination with local authorities, thereby mobilizing the strength of the people, and coordinating very well with the police force in performing tasks.

Assessing this as a key area where the lives of ethnic minorities still face many difficulties, the President requested the unit to continue to be an important bridge between the Party, the State, the military forces and the people; actively support and create favorable conditions for people in border activities; listen to the thoughts, opinions and aspirations of the people; and implement support programs to gradually improve the lives of people in border areas.

The President requested border guards to continue promoting tradition, always being a reliable support for the people, maintaining internal solidarity, unity in party building, political work, and team building to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

During his visit and working session in Cao Bang province, President To Lam and his delegation visited and offered incense to commemorate General Vo Nguyen Giap and 34 soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army at the Tran Hung Dao Forest National Special Relic Site in Tam Kim commune, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province.

80 years ago, at this very location, on December 22, 1944, implementing President Ho Chi Minh's Directive, the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army - the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army was established.

In a solemn atmosphere, President To Lam and delegates expressed their boundless gratitude to General Vo Nguyen Giap, who had many great achievements and made exceptionally outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause of our Party and people.

Writing his thoughts in the Golden Book of Remembrance, President To Lam expressed his emotions when visiting the Tran Hung Dao Forest National Special Relic Site, a place associated with a heroic historical period of the Fatherland, the birthplace of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, the predecessor of today's Vietnam People's Army.

Expressing gratitude for the great contributions and sacrifices of General Vo Nguyen Giap and other heroes and soldiers for the Vietnamese revolutionary cause, the President affirmed: “We vow to be steadfast and forever loyal, worthy successors of the glorious revolutionary cause that the Party and Uncle Ho have chosen; constantly promote the spirit of patriotism and the heroic revolutionary tradition of generations of fathers and brothers, determined to strive to build Vietnam into a country of “rich people, strong country, democracy, equality, civilization”, firmly moving towards socialism”.

Previously, President To Lam and the delegation visited the Na Tu historical site in Bac Can province, where Uncle Ho visited the youth volunteer unit directly performing the task of protecting Na Cu bridge - one of the areas under enemy bombardment on Route 3 on March 28, 1951. Here, Uncle Ho dedicated to all cadres and members of the 312 Youth Volunteer Unit four verses: "Nothing is difficult/ Only fear that the heart is not steadfast/ Digging mountains and filling the sea/ With determination, it will be done".
