Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines will operate a direct route between Hanoi and Phnom Penh with a frequency of four round-trip flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flights will be operated by modern Airbus A321 jet aircraft. The route will be operated from October 27, 2024. This new route will increase the total number of routes between Vietnam and Cambodia of Vietnam Airlines to 5. The total number of flights between the two countries will be up to 86 flights per week. Along with the announcement of the new route, Vietnam Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding with partners Cambodia Angkor Air, Cambodia Tourism Association and SaigonTourist Group within the framework of the Tourism and Aviation Promotion Program "Two Countries - One Destination". Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines will coordinate with partners to promote two-way tourism, support each other in promotional activities, marketing and cooperation on aviation products and services. According to Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines Dang Ngoc Hoa, the direct flight between the two capitals of Vietnam and Cambodia, when officially put into operation, will contribute to increasing the connection network between the two countries. In addition to the role of a geographical bridge, transiting passengers or goods, direct flights are also "ambassadors" participating in strongly promoting bilateral relations between the two countries, best meeting the needs of customers of the two countries. The Vietnam - Cambodia route is one of the first routes operated by Vietnam Airlines since its establishment 31 years ago. With its tireless efforts, Vietnam Airlines has transported nearly 8.2 million passengers and 28,400 tons of cargo on more than 81,000 flights between Vietnam and Cambodia since then. Cambodia is a potential market for the aviation and tourism industries. In more than 30 years of operation, the total aviation market of the two countries has reached an average of 450,000 passengers per year, with an average growth of 24% per year. Vietnam ranks second in the number of tourists to Cambodia with more than 1 million arrivals in 2023. In the opposite direction, Cambodian tourists to Vietnam reached more than 400 thousand arrivals, ranking 8th among the markets sending international visitors to Vietnam.SPRING PERIOD
