President Luong Cuong receives Kenyan Defense Minister

On April 17, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received Kenyan Defense Minister Soipan Tuya on the occasion of the Minister's attendance at the 4th Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals (P4G) Summit from April 14-17.

President Luong Cuong welcomed the Kenyan Defense Minister, on behalf of President William Ruto, to attend the P4G Summit in Hanoi , demonstrating Kenya's strong commitment to development issues, contributing to the overall success of the Summit.

Congratulating Kenya on its achievements in national development, turning Kenya into the “Silicon Prairie”, the financial and technological center of East Africa, with an increasingly important role in the region and the world , President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to and wishes to further deepen the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Kenya.

Minister Soipan Tuya expressed his honor to be appointed by Kenyan President William Ruto as a special envoy to attend the P4G Summit and to be present in Hanoi in April, which is of historical significance to the Vietnamese people.

On this occasion, Minister Soipan Tuya presented a letter from Kenyan President Willian Ruto, on behalf of the State and people of Kenya, to President Luong Cuong praising the close relationship between the two countries, affirming that Vietnam is an outstanding development model; respectfully inviting the President to soon visit Kenya to bring the relationship between the two countries to a new, deeper and more substantive stage of cooperation.

Based on the political trust between Vietnam and Kenya, President Luong Cuong suggested that both sides make efforts to realize and concretize the great potential in areas of strength, especially investment, trade, agriculture and tourism.

Regarding defense cooperation, the President suggested that the two Defense Ministries study and promote cooperation in defense industry, logistics, military medicine, and share experiences in participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Regarding multilateral cooperation, the President suggested that Kenya act as a bridge and support Vietnam in strengthening relations with the African Union (AU) and regional organizations of which Kenya is a member; the two sides should increase the voice of developing countries, coordinate and support each other in multilateral forums.

Expressing his agreement with President Luong Cuong's proposals, Defense Minister Soipan Tuya said Kenya also wishes to act as a gateway to promote bilateral trade and trade between Vietnam and the East African region. In the immediate future, he proposed that the two countries soon expand and concretize cooperation in the fields of defense and security, ensuring food security, building social housing, and universal healthcare.

On this occasion, President Luong Cuong respectfully invited Kenyan President William Ruto to visit Vietnam; at the same time, he thanked President William Ruto for his invitation to visit Kenya and asked the two sides to make arrangements through diplomatic channels.
