The President of the Peruvian National Assembly warmly welcomed President Luong Cuong on his official visit to Peru; emphasizing the significance and importance of President Luong Cuong's visit, which comes at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
President Luong Cuong expressed his pleasure to officially visit Peru and appreciated the solidarity and support of the Peruvian people for the Vietnamese people in the past cause of national defense as well as the current cause of national construction and development.
The President affirmed that Peru is one of the most important partners in Vietnam's overall foreign policy towards the Latin American region and expressed his belief that this visit will create momentum, bringing the relationship between the two countries to a new stage of even stronger development.
Congratulating Peru on its socio-economic development achievements in recent years, the President expressed his belief that the APEC 2024 Summit Week will be a great success, continuing to contribute to enhancing Peru's role, position and international prestige.
President of the Peruvian National Assembly Eduardo Salhuana expressed his admiration for Vietnam's remarkable socio-economic development achievements in recent times, emphasizing that thanks to the diligence and development aspirations of the people and the wise leadership of generations of leaders, Vietnam has overcome historical challenges to become a country with rapid and stable growth and sustainable social security policies, and has friendly and cooperative relations with other countries, including Peru.
The President of the Peruvian National Assembly affirmed that despite the geographical distance, the two countries have many similarities. Accordingly, the President of the Peruvian National Assembly hopes that in the coming time, the two countries will promote delegation exchanges, increase consultations, and learn from each other's experiences in all fields.
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the two sides agreed that strengthening parliamentary relations is one of the important pillars of the two countries' diplomacy, contributing to promoting the overall bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Peru. Accordingly, it is necessary to promote cooperation between the specialized agencies of the two countries' National Assemblies in training, fostering, and improving the capacity of officials, exchanging experiences in research, general consulting, and organizing to serve the activities of the Parliaments; continue to promote coordination mechanisms at multilateral forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and other multilateral parliamentary organizations; support each other's stance on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
On this occasion, the President also conveyed to the President of the Peruvian National Assembly his regards and invitation to visit Vietnam by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man at a time suitable for both sides.
President Luong Cuong hopes that the Peruvian National Assembly will pay special attention to creating conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to effectively implement investment projects in the telecommunications and oil and gas sectors in Peru, contributing to the economic development of both countries.
The President of the Peruvian National Assembly affirmed that the Peruvian legislative branch fully supports and will pay attention to creating favorable conditions for existing investment projects of Vietnamese enterprises in Peru, and hopes that more and more Vietnamese enterprises will come to Peru to invest.
At the end of the meeting, to show respect for the positive developments in the relationship between the two countries over the past 30 years, the Peruvian National Assembly decided to award President Luong Cuong the "Order of Honor" of the Grand Cross, the highest award of the Peruvian legislature for foreign leaders.
Speaking after receiving the Medal, President Luong Cuong expressed his honor to receive the "Medal of Honor" of the Peruvian National Assembly from the President of the Peruvian National Assembly, affirming that this noble award demonstrates the Peruvian National Assembly's respect for the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Peru, and is also a very meaningful recognition of the development of the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
