At the meeting between Party and State leaders and intellectuals, scientists, and artists on the occasion of the Spring of Giap Thin, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu - Chairman of the Vietnam Writers' Association - mentioned the issue of investment in culture.
He said that during the process of building the National Target Program on culture, many people spoke up that the figure of 350,000 billion VND spent on cultural revival was too much, even wasteful.
"But many people in the literary world and I personally think that 350,000 billion VND is still a very small number. It is an extremely large investment in culture," said poet Nguyen Quang Thieu.

He likened cultural investment to planting potatoes, which can be dismantled in just a few months. Changing behavior and forming cultural beauty and conduct also takes hundreds of years.
"Sometimes we still see people throwing bags of trash in public places, this only takes a few seconds. But for a passerby to see the bag of trash and automatically pick it up and throw it in the trash is not simple, sometimes it takes hundreds of years. That is the time to form beauty and cultural behavior" , the Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association analyzed.
Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu also believes that the state needs to have reasonable investment policies for culture. When politics is stable, has a position in the world, along with a sustainable culture, it will be a strong country.
"We have done so many things beyond imagination, but there are still gaps in our culture that need to be filled with reasonable investment," said poet Nguyen Quang Thieu.
