On the occasion of the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year 2025 of the Khmer people in the South, on the afternoon of April 13, at Po Thi Vol Vong Sa Pagoda (Hamlet 4, Xa Phien Commune, Long My District, Hau Giang), the working delegation of the Ethnic Council led by the Central Party Committee member, Chairman of the Ethnic Council Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam visited, wished a happy new year and presented gifts to monks, prestigious people and Khmer ethnic households in difficult circumstances in the area.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Ethnic Council Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam sent New Year greetings to the monks of Po Thi Vol Vong Sa Pagoda and the Khmer people; expressed respect for the good traditional cultural values ​​preserved and promoted by the people; and acknowledged and praised the positive contributions of the Khmer people to the socio-economic development in the locality.

The Chairman of the Council for Ethnic Minorities emphasized that the Party, State and National Assembly always pay deep attention to ethnic affairs and ethnic policies; strive to implement national target programs, especially sustainable poverty reduction and sustainable development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Within the framework of the program, the delegation presented gifts to Po Thi Vol Vong Sa pagoda; presented gifts to 30 prestigious people among ethnic minorities and 70 Khmer households in difficult circumstances in Long My district with the desire to contribute to sharing and encouraging people to celebrate the traditional New Year happily and warmly.

Representatives of Po Thi Vol Vong Sa Pagoda and leaders of Long My district expressed their deep gratitude to the Ethnic Council and the Working Group, affirming that this is a great source of spiritual encouragement for the Khmer ethnic people, demonstrating the regular attention of the National Assembly, the Government and central ministries and branches to ethnic affairs and the comprehensive development of ethnic minority areas.

Hau Giang has over 6,700 Khmer households with over 25,800 people, accounting for 3.5% of the province's population. In recent times, the province has effectively implemented the Party and State's policies on beliefs and religions. Traditional cultural activities of the Khmer people have been preserved and promoted. The Party Committee and the provincial government have created all conditions for the people and monks to study and practice; created conditions for the Patriotic Monks and Monks Solidarity Association to operate in accordance with its principles and purposes; and promoted the role of prestigious people among the Khmer people.
