On October 14, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh had a dialogue with the capital's youth on the topic "Youth participate in building a green, cultured, civilized, and modern capital".
Speaking here, the Chairman of Hanoi highly appreciated the content of the dialogue, saying that this is a series of contents set out in the capital's development strategy in the short and long term.
Receiving opinions and suggestions from young people in building the capital to realize "capital aspirations and Hanoi actions", Mr. Thanh affirmed that the program is an opportunity and a forum for young people in the capital to contribute and express their expectations for the development of the country in general and the capital in particular.
According to him, all opinions of young people are valuable for the city to study, filter, and incorporate into the development and implementation of policies for the capital. The Hanoi Youth Union needs to organize more opportunities for young people to participate in policy making.
Emphasizing that the Capital Law recently passed by the 15th National Assembly is very important, related to the green, cultural, civilized, modern, and smart development of the capital, the Chairman of Hanoi hopes that union members and youth will spend time learning and researching more to contribute to effectively implementing the special mechanisms and policies that the Central Government has for the city.
Emphasizing the development orientation of the capital with the people as the main subject and center, all for a better life for the people, Mr. Thanh stated that young people must participate in shouldering the responsibility of building a green, cultured, civilized, and modern Hanoi.
Sharing at the dialogue, Mr. Thanh said that recently when attending the ASEAN Mayors' Conference in Laos, when asked about the capital's achievements, he did not boast about his wealth and also frankly acknowledged that the city still had some shortcomings such as environmental pollution. However, he confidently affirmed to international friends that: "Hanoi currently has no beggars, no homeless people".
According to him, people who sleep under bridges and in markets are not homeless but because of the nature of their work.
Mr. Thanh said that on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, Hanoi has eliminated dilapidated houses throughout the city; 2.3 million students have basically been able to go to school; the elderly, people in difficult circumstances, and people with meritorious services have all been taken care of.
The head of the Hanoi government affirmed that the life of the capital's people is increasingly improving and Hanoi is trying to do its best to serve the people, to make their lives better. Hanoi aims to provide free annual health check-ups for all people.
Regarding the above sharing, at the meeting with voters of Me Linh and Soc Son districts on October 11, Mr. Thanh also affirmed that "Hanoi currently has no beggars, no homeless people", the life of the capital's people is increasingly improving.
