On the afternoon of January 15, Ms. H - the person who posted information that Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden (HCMC) fed crocodiles to stray cats, came to apologize at this unit. Ms. H., residing in District 7, HCMC, admitted to writing untruths and expressed regret for sharing inaccurate information on social media.
Ms. H. explained that she loved cats too much and the image of cats in crocodile cages made her imagine a heartbreaking scene, leading to posting false information. "I apologize to the leaders of the Zoo and promise not to repeat such false writings in the future," Ms. H. shared.
Ms. TTH, Ms. H.’s mother, also apologized on behalf of her daughter, saying that Ms. H. is facing depression and anxiety disorder, and sometimes cannot control her behavior. Although she understands that this is an unforgivable mistake, Ms. TH hopes that Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden can forgive her daughter.
A representative of Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden received an apology from Ms. H.'s family and said the incident had seriously affected the morale of the staff at the unit.
"We have long affirmed that we have not fed live animals to our pets and all food rations comply with state regulations and have full reports... We hope that everyone will be more careful in sharing information to avoid similar incidents" - this representative emphasized.
The unit accepted Ms. H.'s apology and asked her to sign a confirmation document, committing not to repeat the offense. At the same time, the Zoo also said that it would not continue to pursue the matter but would strictly handle malicious acts according to the law.
Saigon Zoo affirms that it will always accept comments from the community, but for information that causes negative impacts, the unit will take actions to protect its reputation and honor.
