Proactively prevent smuggling and trade fraud

In the first months of 2025, the commodity market in the province was noted to be diverse and rich in types and designs, meeting the consumption needs of the people. The purchasing power of people at shopping centers, supermarket systems, markets and retail stores tends to increase. Cultural, sports , tourism, hotel, motel, restaurant, eatery services... are bustling. Grasping the actual situation, members of the Provincial Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (Steering Committee 389) have proactively reviewed and grasped the market situation in each industry and field; at the same time, strengthening coordination in organizing inspections and controls to promptly detect and handle violations, especially those related to trading in prohibited goods, firecrackers, food items of unknown origin...

In the first quarter of 2025, the authorities detected and handled 170 violations, a decrease of 150 cases compared to the same period in 2024. Of these, there were 18 cases of illegal trading and transportation of prohibited and smuggled goods; 149 cases of commercial fraud and tax fraud; 3 cases of counterfeit goods, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property violations. The authorities prosecuted 17 cases with 27 defendants. The total amount collected for the State budget was over 10.8 billion VND.

Comrade Le Hung - Head of the Market Management Department, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 said: "The situation of smuggling and trade fraud in the province recently has mainly focused on a number of key items such as: Consumer goods, cosmetics, food of unknown origin, poor quality, especially, the situation of trade fraud in the form of counterfeit goods, imitation goods of famous brands, poor quality goods causing significant damage to consumers and reputable businesses. Violators often use many sophisticated tricks, taking advantage of border areas, key traffic routes to transport illegal goods into consumption areas".

In the coming time, it is forecasted that the market situation will have many fluctuations, the activities of buying and selling goods, using services, and entertainment activities of the people, especially during long holidays. Taking advantage of this, subjects carry out many tricks, fraudulent acts, and fraud in business...

Members of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 continue to strengthen inspection, control, and good management of the area; proactively grasp the market situation, price developments, supply and demand of goods; organize inspection and control of the activities of production and business establishments in the area, focusing on essential consumer goods such as: Food, food of all kinds; gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas; services serving people's entertainment activities to promptly detect and strictly handle violations in accordance with the law.

At the same time, focus on training, fostering knowledge and applying science and technology in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; strengthen coordination, connection and information sharing in accordance with the new situation; publicize the phone numbers and hotlines of the Steering Committee 389 at all levels, ensuring timely receipt and handling of reports from the masses according to the Regulations of the National Steering Committee 389.

Particularly for the police force, the Market Management Department proactively forecasts, grasps the situation, implements inspections, checks, and investigations to promptly detect, prevent, and strictly handle all acts of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods to deter and prevent in general; not to allow the emergence of complicated groups and gathering places for the transportation and trading of smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, and goods that do not ensure food hygiene and safety.

Along with that, strengthen propaganda work, promptly reflect the situation and results of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; guide people to recognize and distinguish counterfeit, poor quality, and unknown origin goods and advise people not to participate in or assist in smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
