Hai Phong : Proactively preventing storms, Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park has minimized damage caused by storm No. 3.
Super typhoon No. 3 has the fastest time to increase in intensity in history, the strongest among the typhoons that have landed in the East Sea in the past 30 years. Hai Phong is one of the localities that has been heavily affected in terms of social transport infrastructure, production infrastructure, etc.
However, with proactive and careful response, Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park has ensured maximum safety, minimizing damage caused by storm No. 3.
Hai Phong suffered great damage
On the evening of September 8, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the working delegation inspected and assessed the situation of prevention, control and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 in Hai Phong City. According to the report at the working session with the Prime Minister, Hai Phong had 2 deaths (in Tien Lang and Thuy Nguyen districts) due to collapsed kitchen walls (solid houses not subject to evacuation); 18 injured people received first aid at district and county medical centers. The system of dykes and irrigation works in the city also ensured safety, with no incidents. However, the property damage was very large and could not be accurately and detailedly assessed and counted.
Many roads and streets had trees, lights, traffic lights, signs, and communication lines broken and flooded, causing serious congestion; traffic activities were delayed and interrupted.
Along with that, many areas had power cut off to ensure safety or due to power line problems. Many houses, offices, businesses, warehouses, factories, and farms were damaged, with roofs blown off and power poles broken.
Preliminary statistics as of 12 noon on September 8 showed that the storm damaged 528 houses, 128 schools, 13 medical facilities, 104 offices, 3 power stations, 210 farms, 367 electric poles and lighting poles; more than 6,000 trees were broken; 16,735 hectares of rice and crops, and 48 hectares of aquaculture were affected.
Storm No. 3 caused heavy damage to many businesses in industrial parks in Hai Phong, hundreds of workers are at risk of missing work.

On the morning of September 9, according to the reporter at Wayne Company Limited (Hai Phong Japanese Industrial Park), workers came to the company but could not enter the factory because the factory roof was completely damaged.
At Vina Bigo Co., Ltd., the 1,800 m2 factory was like a “battlefield” after the storm. The company’s two other factories, nearly 2,000 m2, were also severely damaged. On September 9, the company still had no electricity.

Currently, Wako & Ueno Company (VSIP Industrial Park) has contacted factory repair units to quickly fix the problem, however, it will take at least 1 month to partially fix it. The repair cost for the business is also very large.
The Economic Zone Trade Union is still counting the losses from the units. Initial estimates show that nearly 100 enterprises in the Industrial Park suffered damage from storm No. 3, estimated at thousands of billions of VND.
Be proactive to minimize damage.
According to the reporter's records at Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park, the initial damage recorded was basically broken trees, factories in the industrial park only suffered local damage, but not much, not too much affecting production activities.

“It only takes 2-3 days for businesses in our industrial park to resume normal production activities,” said Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh, General Director of Shinec Joint Stock Company, the investor of Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park.
For example, at Dongbang Vina Co., Ltd., only a few glass doors were blown away and some screws on the roof were loose. Or at Kim Khi Viet Joint Stock Company, a few sides of the factory were blown away and a little of the roof was blown away. The representative of Gola Lion Webbing Vina Company only suffered damage to trees. Vanderleun Vietnam Co., Ltd. was not much affected, some logo letters were blown away, some rooms were flooded...
As one of the enterprises in Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park that was less affected by storm No. 3, Mr. Le Duc Oanh, Deputy Director of GGV Company and Project Director of GGV Constructions, said: "The situation after the storm shows that the company's constructions are stable, with no serious damage to people or property."
According to Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh - General Director of Shinec Joint Stock Company, in the face of the complicated developments of storm No. 3, Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park has proactively deployed synchronous storm prevention measures to ensure absolute safety for people and property. Under the close direction of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, Hai Phong City People's Committee, Thuy Nguyen District Party Committee and People's Committee, the Storm Prevention Steering Committee of the Industrial Park Management Board has urgently issued documents directing and guiding storm prevention work.

Standing member of the storm prevention committee No. 3, Mr. Hoang Minh Trong, Head of the Security Department, in charge of security issues of Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park, said: "When there was information that the storm would enter the East Sea, all security forces and guards in Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park went to each enterprise in the industrial park to instruct on how to prevent storms, reinforce factories, roofs, and tie down trees. Therefore, after the storm, the damage recorded in our industrial park was not severe."
Mr. Trong also added that there was no flooding at the Industrial Park because the drainage system had been upgraded by us before. In addition, the Company also coordinated with the irrigation company to drain water when the tide was low so there was no flooding.
According to Mr. Le Duc Oanh, there are three important factors that help minimize damage to businesses in Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park when the storm comes. “First, we received early notice from Shinec Joint Stock Company about the storm and storm prevention requirements. Next, the company's storm prevention team has been closely coordinating with the security forces in the investor's industrial park. Finally, during the storm, GGV Company closely coordinated with Shinec to implement measures to protect the project and minimize damage, ensuring that all safety requirements are fully implemented,” Mr. Oanh affirmed.
According to information from the Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park Management Board, in just 2 days at most, the entire industrial park will be cleaned up, ensuring safe and normal traffic in the industrial park. Currently, Shinec Joint Stock Company has sent officers and employees to each enterprise to record the consequences and work with investors in the industrial park to fix the problem to soon stabilize production.
