TP - To ensure electricity supply for construction sites as well as when Long Thanh International Airport (Long Thanh Airport) comes into operation, Dong Nai Electricity Company has been carrying out management, operation and investment activities in the power system.
Mr. Tran The Du - Deputy Director of Dong Nai Power Company said that since the Long Thanh Airport project started, Long Thanh Power Company (under Dong Nai Power Company) has coordinated with the Long Thanh Airport Management Board to record and evaluate the electricity demand for the project construction in each phase. At the same time, the organization has inspected and reviewed the entire operating status of the 22kV power lines supplying electricity to the Long Thanh Airport construction site.

The average electricity output for the construction activities of Long Thanh airport is about 630,330kWh/month and is provided through two main lines: line 479 Danh Du of Binh Son 110kV station and line 474 Xuan Duong of Binh Son 110kV station. In addition, there is a backup line, line 471 Quoc Te, of Bau Xeo 110kV station and these lines are connected to the grid to perform back and forth transmission when necessary. Therefore, construction activities at the site are always guaranteed a stable and continuous power supply.
Up to now, Long Thanh Power has accepted and energized 26 distribution transformer stations with a total capacity of 17,995 kVA to supply electricity for the construction units of Long Thanh Airport. Of which, line 479 Danh Du supplies electricity to 19 transformer stations with a total capacity of 11,745 kVA and line 474 Xuan Duong supplies electricity to 7 transformer stations with a total capacity of 6,250 kVA.
Regarding operation management, Long Thanh Power regularly maintains and periodically maintains the power grid and periodically tests equipment on lines 479 Danh Du and 474 Xuan Duong. Regularly check and measure the temperature of the power supply, equipment and stick reflective stickers on the power poles to avoid incidents caused by construction vehicles. Upgrade the line after pole 257 of line 474 Xuan Duong, replace equipment (LBS with Recloser) on the grid to prevent incidents from spreading, and promptly find the cause of the incident for handling. Coordinate with relevant Power units to maintain the backup power line supplying electricity to Long Thanh airport.
In addition, Long Thanh Power has also developed specific plans for all situations, such as transferring power when handling grid incidents, ensuring that electricity is always continuously supplied to serve construction activities at the Long Thanh Airport construction site.
Regarding investment in power grid infrastructure and 110kV transformer stations (TBA). In early June 2024, Dong Nai Power Company started the Long Thanh Airport 110kV Station and connecting line project. The project has a total investment of 119 billion VND. The project includes the 110kV TBA and connecting line and is invested in two phases.
In the first phase, a 40MVA transformer and a 3.8km long 2-circuit line will be constructed and installed. The 110kV transformer will ensure power supply to Long Thanh Airport when it comes into operation. In addition, it will contribute to reducing the 22kV power supply radius, reducing losses, ensuring voltage quality, and improving the reliability of power supply in the surrounding area. The project is expected to be accepted and energized in December 2024.
Phase 2, installing the second transformer, increasing the total capacity of Long Thanh 110kV substation to 80MVA. Expected to be deployed and put into operation in December 2025.
With the completion of the Long Thanh Airport 110kV Station project and the phase 2 connection line, the power supply to Long Thanh Airport will be guaranteed to be safe, continuous and of high quality as soon as the airport comes into operation.
