Comments on the Project for Developing Agricultural Tourism in Thanh Hoa Province to 2030

On the afternoon of October 29, comrade Nguyen Van Thi, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a conference to listen to a report on the Project on Developing Agricultural Tourism in Thanh Hoa Province to 2030.

According to the consultant's assessment, Thanh Hoa province has rich natural tourism resources - natural landscapes in agricultural and rural areas, with their own beauty and distributed according to each terrain and agricultural region.

Along with that, cultural tourism resources - agricultural production activities in rural areas such as craft villages, cultural and spiritual relics with rural cultural values; villages associated with traditional agricultural production cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities in mountainous areas; agricultural cultural festivals associated with beliefs and community culture are also very unique and diverse. Along with the advantage of geographical location, the ability to connect other tourist routes of the province and the region, are very favorable conditions for agricultural tourism to develop and expand further.

However, according to the project's assessment, the current situation of local agricultural tourism still has many limitations, such as not yet forming a separate product line on the tourism map; there are no outstanding agricultural tourism products, typical of the province; some newly built agricultural products only meet the needs of tourists at a basic level; new craft village production activities are on a household scale, the ability to access the market is still weak; the quality of human resources, especially foreign language proficiency is still limited; not attracting potential investors to exploit advantages...

With the goal of promoting the development of agricultural tourism, associated with promoting the potential and advantages of agriculture, craft villages, culture and ecological environment of the locality, contributing to the restructuring of the agricultural economy towards multi-value, the project aims that by 2030 the agricultural tourism industry will welcome 1,169,000 visitors; including 13,000 international visitors.

Total revenue from agricultural tourism by 2030 will reach 741 billion VND; attracting 9,000 workers to participate in agricultural tourism activities; 80% of agricultural tourism sites will be digitized; successfully developing 6 main product lines at 29 tourist sites including agricultural tourism associated with production, community tourism, ecology, traditional craft villages, resorts and history, spirituality...

The project also orients 5 spaces for agricultural tourism development including: Western mountainous tourism space; Southern mountainous tourism space; central area of ​​the province; Northern tourism development space and coastal and delta tourism development space in the East.

Along with that, the project also identifies 3 agricultural tourism routes including intra-regional routes, intra-provincial connecting routes and inter-provincial connecting routes; orients investment activities to develop tourist destinations and 8 groups of development solutions, with the total estimated budget for implementing the project being over 181 billion VND.

Representative of Thanh Hoa City People's Committee spoke at the conference.

At the meeting, delegates from departments, branches and localities basically agreed with the goals, orientations and solutions that the project has developed. In particular, localities with potential for agricultural tourism such as Thanh Hoa City and districts: Thuong Xuan, Ba Thuoc, Thach Thanh, Ha Trung... hope that this will be a "leading the way" project, creating opportunities for localities to exploit the potential of agricultural tourism.

Departments, branches and localities also contributed comments and proposed to add some advantageous products; at the same time, proposed to add orientations on scale and clearly define the functions of responsible units in organizing implementation.

Representatives of Thuong Xuan district leaders commented and added some potential tourist spots of the district to be included in the project.

The leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province received comments from departments, branches and localities.

Concluding the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi highly appreciated the host unit and the consulting unit for conducting a thorough survey to have realistic assessments of advantages, product lines, development status as well as building a roadmap for agricultural tourism development in the Project on Agricultural Tourism Development of Thanh Hoa Province to 2030.

This is a difficult project, however, the research and detailed and elaborate construction of the project's contents have suggested specific development directions for agricultural tourism in Thanh Hoa province.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi delivered a concluding speech at the conference.

He suggested that, based on the comments and discussions, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the consulting unit should absorb and supplement products with potential to develop into advantageous tourism products that localities have proposed; including more specific orientations on typical products, building agricultural tourism models that maintain natural architecture and are closely linked to experiential activities; digitizing data of tourist destinations and developing communication channels to promote and reach customers...

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi also requested the consulting unit to complete and supplement updated data, and to clearly define tasks in the implementation stage so that the project can be effectively implemented when approved. After receiving and supplementing, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will collect opinions from sectors and units before November 15, complete the project before November 20 for the Provincial People's Committee Office to review and submit to the Provincial People's Committee in November 2024.
