Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 1104/QD-UBND dated April 9, 2025 to lease more than 7,000 m² of land in Binh Son commune, Long Thanh district to Saigon - Long Thanh Ground Services Company Limited to implement the Project of investing in construction and business of repair and maintenance services for aviation vehicles, equipment and ground technical and commercial services No. 2 at Long Thanh International Airport.

Dong Nai leases land for aviation technical services at Long Thanh airport.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Finance, and the Tax Department of Long Thanh - Nhon Trach area to coordinate in implementing land lease procedures, granting land use right certificates, and determining the financial obligations of enterprises.

Land lease is based on Decision No. 1499/QD-BGTVT dated December 7, 2024 of the Minister of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction ), approving the results of selecting investors to implement the project at the ground technical commercial service area No. 2 in the airport area.

Previously, on March 6, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee approved the lease of land to the Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (VAECO) to implement the Aircraft Maintenance Project No. 1, part of the Component Project 4 of Long Thanh Airport. When completed, this project will be capable of simultaneously maintaining 2 code E aircraft (such as Boeing 777) and 2 code C aircraft (such as Airbus A320, A321).

Along with attracting investment in developing aviation technical services, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has also proposed to the Politburo , the National Assembly and the Government to allow a pilot model of a free trade zone near Long Thanh airport and Phuoc An port. The free trade zone aims to serve international trade needs, taking advantage of the strategic geographical location, logistics capacity and modern development orientation of the province and the Southeast region.

According to the plan, Long Thanh airport is divided into 3 development phases: Phase 1 will have a capacity of 25 million passengers per year, phase 2 will have a capacity of 50 million passengers and phase 3 will increase to 100 million passengers per year with 4 routes.

In Notice No. 139/TB-VPCP dated March 28, 2025 of the Government Office, the conclusion after the field inspection by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: The unchanged goal is to basically complete phase 1 of Long Thanh airport in 2025, and put it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026. Along with that, the Prime Minister requested relevant ministries, branches and localities to speed up the progress of connecting infrastructure projects such as highways, urban railways and logistics centers.

Dong Nai's continuous granting of land lease licenses for aviation technical service projects and its proposal for a special mechanism for free trade zones shows that this locality is proactively realizing its role as a driving center of the Southeast economic region in the context of Long Thanh airport preparing to come into operation.
