Removing a National Assembly delegate from duty

(NLDO) – The National Assembly Standing Committee issued a resolution allowing Mr. Duong Van An, a National Assembly delegation from Vinh Phuc province, to cease his duties as a National Assembly delegate.

On the afternoon of January 15, the National Assembly Standing Committee met to consider and decide on the dismissal of Mr. Duong Van An, a member of the National Assembly Delegation of Vinh Phuc province, from his duties as a deputy of the 15th National Assembly.

Accordingly, the National Assembly Standing Committee discussed, voted by secret ballot and issued Resolution 1364 on the dismissal of Mr. Duong Van An from his duties as a deputy of the 15th National Assembly.

This Resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly was issued on the basis of the Constitution, the Law on Organization of the National Assembly and relevant legal provisions; based on the opinions of competent agencies, the submission of the Delegation Work Committee and considering the application for resignation from the duties of a National Assembly delegate on January 10 of Mr. Duong Van An.

On January 10, the Politburo and Secretariat also reviewed and disciplined party members with violations and shortcomings.

After considering the proposal of the Central Inspection Commission, the Politburo found that Mr. Duong Van An (Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee) during his tenure as Secretary of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee (from October 2020 to March 2024), violated Party regulations and State laws in performing his assigned duties and tasks.

Mr. Duong Van An also violated regulations on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity; violated regulations on what party members are not allowed to do and the responsibility to set an example.

According to the Politburo, Mr. Duong Van An's violations caused serious consequences, great damage to the state budget, bad public opinion, and reduced the prestige of the Party organization and local government.

The Politburo decided to issue a disciplinary warning to Mr. Duong Van An and requested that competent authorities promptly and consistently enforce administrative discipline in line with Party discipline.

On the morning of January 11, Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo's decision on personnel work. At the conference, the Politburo's decision to transfer and appoint Mr. Dang Xuan Phong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee, to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and hold the position of Secretary of Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term was announced.
