Efforts to make a great event
Mr. Van Ba Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism expressed great expectations for this international event. According to Mr. Son, Quang Nam is trying to create an event of sufficient magnitude to make tourists think about choosing between destinations when they travel in the Central region.
Recently, neighboring localities of Quang Nam such as Hue and Da Nang have had many large-scale events that attract many tourists. These are the Hue Festival and the annual International Fireworks Festival in Da Nang.
“For a long time, the tourism industry and the tourism community have been thinking about how to have large-scale, attractive events like Da Nang and Hue. Two months ago, we sat together and came up with the idea of a kite festival. But that festival must be large enough to satisfy tourists. From there, it will continue in the following years,” said Mr. Son.
With its vast heritage, cultural and human resources, and a coastline that hugs the North and South like a white silk sheet, Quang Nam has the advantages that tourism investors always desire. However, to take advantage of and turn these advantages into a program that creates a widespread impact is not an easy task.
The Quang Nam International Kite Festival 2024 is being urgently prepared. It can be seen that compared to famous events that attract tourists from all over the world in Da Nang and Hue, the Quang Nam Kite Festival, although not yet taking place, will not easily spread immediately if there is no unique and different element.
The 2024 Quang Nam International Kite Festival will be held at the Hoiana Resort and Golf Complex (Tay Son Tay Village, Duy Hai Commune, Duy Xuyen District) from July 25 to 28. The festival will bring together kite teams from 12 countries and territories such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Australia... The teams will perform unique kite art with about 100 different types of kites, along with a colorful kite display space.
Many incentives for tourists
Representatives of the Organizing Committee and coordinating units all agreed that kite performance is the most suitable event and was considered when choosing the summer location.
Notably, the pioneering partner is the “big guy” in the resort tourism industry in Quang Nam: Hoiana. This thousands of room accommodation complex has thousands of guests staying every day, most of whom are international guests from Taiwan, Korea, Japan, and some others from European countries.
“For Vietnamese people, it is not strange, but for international visitors, learning about traditional Vietnamese culture, including kite flying, is a new experience.
But more importantly, the Kite Festival is also a very reasonable reason for visitors to Quang Nam to stay, relax, and experience firsthand the beautiful coastline that is expected to be designed in the future to host events with a capacity of tens of thousands of visitors," added Mr. Van Ba Son.
Mr. Le Quoc Viet - Chairman of Quang Nam Destination Club to preserve local values, believes that by making efforts to find attractive products, the tourism industry will maintain its freshness, bringing tourists back more often.
On the other hand, kite demonstration on the beach is an attractive activity, not only simply watching kites but visitors can also enjoy cuisine, visit exhibition areas of famous kites in the world. In addition, visitors can also experience making kites, choosing a satisfactory gift.
A special feature of the Quang Nam Kite Festival 2024, which is being held for the first time, is that kites will fly and perform at night. Usually, kites are flown on days with good weather, strong winds, and clear blue skies.
But with the support of high-end lighting effects, the giant, strange kites will shine with LED shells. Visitors will stand on the beach, watching the elaborate performance of hundreds of kites in the night, under the starry sky.
For more information about the festival venue, a representative of the Hoiana Complex said that all residents and visitors can participate in the event.
A specially designed walkway for everyone to enter and exit comfortably, tens of thousands of square meters of sand are cleaned and equipped with sound and lighting systems, and experience booths to serve visitors.
Taking advantage of this event, Hoiana also launched incentive programs for tourists to both visit and use the resort's services. Resort and kite watching experience packages are specially designed at preferential prices.
“We consider this an event to promote the destination, promote Quang Nam tourism and spread a new, large-scale event. Hoiana will arrange to create the best experience for visitors,” said Ms. Mitchell Fu, Senior Vice President in charge of destination marketing at Hoiana Resort and Golf.
