Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) Portal Officially Launched

In December 2022, in Brussels, Belgium, Vietnam and the International Partnership Group (IPG) adopted a Political Declaration establishing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). JETP is an ambitious, long-term partnership to support Vietnam’s low-carbon and climate-resilient transition, accelerate the just transition and decarbonization of its power system, and create new economic opportunities to support Vietnam’s development towards a net zero emissions future.

On December 1, 2023, at COP28, Vietnam and IPG officially announced the Resource Mobilization Plan (RMP) to implement the JETP Declaration. This is a new milestone in Vietnam's efforts to achieve the goal of developing clean and sustainable energy.

The JETP Implementation Secretariat was established by the Prime Minister with the task of advising the Prime Minister - Head of the COP26 Steering Committee in directing, operating, and resolving the implementation of the JETP Declaration in Vietnam.

To create an official information channel providing transparent, timely and comprehensive information on the progress of JETP implementation in Vietnam, the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Electricity Authority, International Partnership Group (IPG) and UNDP, completed the construction of the JETP Vietnam information page at the website address: https://jetp.moit.gov.vn/  

The portal serves as a bridge between the Secretariat, IPG, GFANZ (an independent private sector-led initiative) and stakeholders, especially connecting with project proponents and developers, to promote a just energy transition under the JETP in Vietnam. It also provides updates on strategies, action plans, progress reports, collaboration opportunities as well as policy dialogues, events and initiatives related to the just energy transition, contributing to enhancing understanding, connection and companionship among stakeholders – from government agencies, development partners, the private sector to communities and citizens.

The website provides overview information, quick updates - accurate - transparent about JETP Vietnam's activities with main interactive contents including:

- General information about JETP Vietnam such as JETP's objectives, JETP participants in Vietnam, structure and tasks of the JETP Secretariat;

- Information on proposed projects to implement JETP in priority areas such as energy transition in the transport sector; innovation, development and transfer of technology; ensuring a just transition; improving the legal framework in energy transition; converting coal-fired power plants; developing the renewable energy sector; power transmission and energy storage; efficient use of energy;

- Information on activities and events within the framework of JETP Vietnam and the implementation status of JETP in the world;

- Documents, progress reports, action plans, texts, regulations related to the JETP implementation process.

In the coming time, the JETP Vietnam information page will continue to be upgraded and developed with new features to optimize user experience, contribute to improving communication efficiency and promptly providing content and results in the JETP implementation process in Vietnam.
