Luang Prabang government strongly supports, Viettel marathon 2024 is ready to start

Currently, representatives of the organizing committee are in Luang Prabang to carry out promotional activities, prepare and inspect the organization of the tournament. It is expected that on November 3, 2024, the events of the Viettel Marathon Luang Prabang Unitel 2024 will officially start.

Notably, on October 22, at the headquarters of the Luang Prabang Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Khamkhan Chanthavisouk, Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary and Governor of Luang Prabang Province, had a cordial meeting with representatives of the organizing committee of the Viettel Marathon Laos leg. At the meeting, representatives of the Viettel Marathon organizing committee presented and reported on the preparation progress for the tournament operation and hoped to receive support from the local authorities.

After hearing the report on the preparation, Mr. Khamkhan Chanthavisouk expressed his joy when Luang Prabang became the first venue for the Viettel Marathon 2024 series. This is the first time Luang Prabang has organized a race with a distance of 42.195 km, so there will be many challenges. Therefore, all preparation steps must be discussed carefully.

At the same time, through the race, Mr. Khamkhan Chanthavisouk assessed that this is an excellent opportunity for Luang Prabang to promote its image and people, thereby raising its tourism status and making it known to international friends. Therefore, Mr. Khamkhan Chanthavisouk affirmed that the local government will create the best conditions for the organizing committee to complete its work and agreed to send personnel to join the steering committee of the race.

The Viettel Marathon 2024 is a prestigious international sporting event organized by the Vietnam Athletics Federation, the Cambodian Athletics Federation, and the Lao Athletics Federation. Meanwhile, the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel Group) is the co-organizer and sponsor of the tournament. After the Laos leg, the Viettel Marathon 2024 will take place in Vietnam on December 1 and Cambodia on December 22.

In its first edition, the tournament is expected to attract more than 25,000 participants. This is the tournament with the highest total prize fund, up to 150,000 USD.
