On September 28, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc signed Decision 1053/QD-TTg to provide plant seeds from the national reserve to support Lao Cai province in restoring production due to the impact of storm No. 3.
Specifically, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to provide 80.48 tons of rice seeds, 8.81 tons of corn seeds and 0.25 tons of vegetable seeds from the national reserve to support Lao Cai province in restoring production due to the impact of storm No. 3.
Previously, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc also signed Decision 984/QD-TTg to support Lao Cai province with 150 billion VND from the central budget reserve in 2024 to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 and stabilize people's lives.
Lao Cai is the locality that suffered the most damage due to the impact of storm No. 3 and its circulation from the night of September 7 to September 12. According to data up to 5:00 p.m. on September 26, Lao Cai had 132 deaths, 86 injured people were taken to provincial and district hospitals for emergency care and free treatment. To date, 49 people have been discharged from the hospital, their health is stable. For the 19 missing cases, local authorities, local people and their families are continuing to search.
Estimated economic damage is nearly 6,688 billion VND.
In particular, agricultural production suffered great damage to crops, livestock, aquatic products, and barns. Of which, nearly 808 hectares of rice fields were eroded and buried in rocks and soil, unable to be restored and must be renovated to continue production.
At the conference to review, evaluate and draw lessons from the work of preventing and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 held on September 28, Lao Cai Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong said that the province is currently focusing on rebuilding houses for people, including 3 resettlement areas: Lang Nu, Nam Tong and Kho Vang according to the Prime Minister's direction, striving to complete by December 31.
Lao Cai is continuing to review infrastructure, especially schools, transportation, healthcare, and telecommunications. Up to now, 100% of students have been able to go to school, healthcare has stabilized, and telecommunications and electricity have been restored to pre-storm levels.
