On the afternoon of October 25, receiving US Secretary of State Emily Blanchard, who is visiting and working in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and highly appreciated the contributions of the US Department of State and Ms. Emily Blanchard personally to the development of Vietnam-US relations, including economic relations, in recent times.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that in the coming time, the two sides continue to implement concrete measures to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership to develop more substantially and effectively, focusing on promoting cooperation in areas such as economics - trade - investment, science - technology , innovation, digital transformation, semiconductor chip production, training high-quality human resources, the US side increasing scholarships for Vietnamese students, cooperation in energy transition, response to climate change, tourism cooperation, people-to-people exchange, overcoming the consequences of war, improving national governance capacity, etc.

The Prime Minister appreciated the US Government's initiation of consideration to recognize Vietnam's market economy status, and suggested that the US soon complete this process; suggested that both sides continue to make efforts to promote economic connectivity between the two economies, promote harmonious and sustainable trade exchanges, and create conditions for businesses from both sides to cooperate and invest.

Along with that, the Prime Minister suggested that the US continue to open its market to Vietnamese goods such as textiles, footwear, electronics, etc. and limit anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures and other unnecessary measures against Vietnamese exports, especially agricultural products, wooden products, and items that directly affect people's jobs and livelihoods.

In particular, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will always accompany, support and create an open, transparent, safe and healthy investment and business environment for US businesses to operate effectively and long-term in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister suggested that both sides continue to make efforts to boost economic connectivity between the two economies, promote harmonious and sustainable trade exchanges, and create conditions for businesses from both sides to cooperate and invest.

US Secretary of State Emily Blanchard highly agreed with the Prime Minister on the requirement to continue to concretize and effectively implement the new framework of relations between the two countries, especially promoting the key areas that the Prime Minister mentioned such as trade cooperation, investment, science and technology, human resource training, tourism, people-to-people exchange, overcoming the consequences of war, etc.

Appreciating Vietnam's outstanding achievements in economic growth, macroeconomic management, and inflation control in recent times, Ms. Emily Blanchard expressed her confidence in the increasingly improved investment and business environment in Vietnam, such as the opening of the new facility of the National Innovation Center, the green energy transition, and participation in high-standard trade agreements, etc., which will contribute to attracting the attention of US investors.

Ms. Emily Blanchard said that the two sides still have much room for cooperation and said that they will continue to promote the Vietnam - US relationship to become increasingly deep, stable and solid. Sharing some assessments of the global economic situation and the US economic and financial policies, Ms. Blanchard expressed her willingness to exchange with Vietnam about economic policy experiences as well as ways to coordinate to effectively respond to fluctuations in the global economy.
