The Government provides emergency support of 150 billion VND to Lao Cai province.

On September 15, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc signed Decision 984/QD-TTg to provide emergency support of VND 150 billion to Lao Cai province from the central budget reserve in 2024 to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 and stabilize people's lives.

The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Lao Cai province to be responsible for specifically allocating and using the above-mentioned additional funds in accordance with the provisions of the law on the state budget and other relevant legal documents, for the right purposes, economically and effectively, without loss, waste or negativity; using the central budget support together with the local budget and other legal capital sources to promptly overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3.

Due to the impact of storm No. 3 and its circulation, Lao Cai province experienced moderate, heavy to very heavy rain over a wide area; deep flooding, flash floods, and landslides caused very serious damage to people and infrastructure of the State and people.

According to reports, as of 12:00 on September 14, the whole province had 256 people dead, missing and injured. The whole province had 12,364 houses flooded, landslides, and swept away by floods...

As of 12:00 on September 14, 88 villages/21 communes were still isolated, and people could not travel due to flooding and landslides on roads.

Lao Cai suffered heavy damage to agricultural production; infrastructure; irrigation works...

Initial damage estimate is over 3,235 billion VND.
