According to the police of Minh Khai commune, Hung Ha district, Thai Binh province, on the afternoon of October 7, the commune police received a rare wild animal handed over by a local resident. It was a Burmese kite - a wild bird listed in the Red Book.
Specifically, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan (residing in Dong Lac village, Minh Khai commune, Hung Ha district, Thai Binh province) accidentally discovered a wild bird in his family's yard. Mr. Thuan reported it to the authorities.
Upon receiving the news, the police of Minh Khai commune, Hung Ha district contacted the Forestry Department under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thai Binh province to organize the reception of this wild animal.
It is an individual of the Burmese buzzard ( scientific name Spilornis cheela) belonging to the family Accipitridae, a wild animal belonging to group IIB of endangered and rare forest animals. The Burmese buzzard is a wild bird of prey that was listed on the Red List of Threatened Species in 2016.

Upon receipt, the Thai Binh provincial authorities found the Burmese kite to be in good health.
Accordingly, the Burmese kite will be brought to the Ninh Binh Wildlife Rescue Center for further care, nurturing, and conservation before being released into the natural environment according to regulations.
