During the week of October 21st to October 27th, the Cybersecurity Department warned the public about the following three common scams:

-Scamming tactics to solicit charitable donations for temples: individuals are taking advantage of recent temple fires, creating fake Facebook pages impersonating temples to solicit donations.

The fake Facebook page has an interface identical to the official page, posting many images and videos to build trust with viewers. The perpetrators also spend money on advertising with the goal of reaching more people and receiving high levels of interaction.

When someone discovered that this was a scam site and commented to warn others, the scammer deleted the comment and blocked access.

The Cybersecurity Department recommends that individuals and organizations thoroughly research information, investigate the soliciting organization, and refrain from transferring money to unknown entities, only doing so through reputable organizations.

- Scamming tactics involving the installation of fake banking apps: Scammers create websites, applications, and social media pages impersonating banks and financial institutions. They approach victims through various means, then attempt to steal users' personal information and commit financial fraud.

The Cybersecurity Department advises people to be extremely vigilant against offers to upgrade credit cards; quick online loans with low interest rates; and notifications about suspicious transactions in bank accounts.

Absolutely do not install applications from unknown sources, access links, follow instructions, transfer money to strangers, or provide personal information in any form.

- Deceptive health consultation tactics: perpetrators create Fanpages to offer health advice, sharing information and videos featuring doctors and medical staff to provide advice, share information about the uses of medications, and include testimonials from people who have used the medications in order to gain the trust of users.

Then, the perpetrators lured victims into participating in consultations and purchasing medicines with various incentives. Many people were not only scammed out of money but also suffered health consequences from using products of unknown origin.

The Cybersecurity Department advises people to be cautious when using medical examination and treatment services. It is necessary to use official, licensed medical examination and treatment platforms where the doctor's identity and the medical facility can be verified. Do not trust offers from strangers, and do not transfer money or provide information to strangers.
