Fierce fighting in the "path of survival" region, Russia gains the advantage

Last week, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that Russia had taken control of the village of Artyomovskoe (formerly Khromovo), located on the western outskirts of Bakhmut. Today, the Russian military revealed key details about the attack.

Accordingly, the paratroopers of the Southern Group of Forces, with the support of aviation and artillery fire, continue to improve the situation along the front line and liberate the Artemovskoye settlement in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.

During reconnaissance and reconnaissance operations of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the air, paratroopers discovered enemy defenses, main strongholds and fire. As a result of the standoff, Russian artillery suppressed the firing positions of Ukrainian artillery and destroyed control points. Aircraft attacked fortified positions and fortifications where Ukrainian forces were hiding.

Having demoralized the troops with precision strikes on checkpoints and suppressing fire, the paratroopers stormed the village from several directions under the cover of groups on armored vehicles. Drone operators accompanied the assault units from the air and warned of newly discovered Ukrainian Armed Forces fire and the exploitation of the advance routes. The newly discovered fire positions were immediately destroyed by drones and fire from armored groups.

After the village of Khromovo, located on the western outskirts of Bakhmut, fell under Russian control, Russian forces accelerated their advance. On the evening of December 3, preliminary reports from the front said that Russia had taken control of the Villanovsky tree nursery, located west of Khromovo. The nursery area has been turned into a strategically important stronghold by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The goal of the Ukrainian group deployed in this position is to block Russia’s advance to the “survival road” between Khromovo and Chasov Yar. It was the last road used by Ukrainian forces to send supplies to Bakhmut during the fierce battles for the city.

According to preliminary reports from the front on the evening of December 4, Russian forces approached the highway and stormed the road from Chasov Yar to Khromovo.

The “road of life” turned into a “road of death”. Ukrainian equipment and manpower along the entire road to Chasov Yar were destroyed by Russian precision artillery fire and numerous drones.

The Ukrainian army is retreating to Krasny (Ivanovske). Ukrainian forces are strengthening their positions, preparing for the upcoming battle. The Russian offensive on Krasny is necessary for future operations in the direction of Chasov Yar and further to the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration.
