Regarding information security, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Bui Hoang Phuong said that information sharing between organizations and between countries is extremely necessary.
On the afternoon of December 17, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Bui Hoang Phuong had a working session with Novicom Company (Czech Republic) led by CEO Jindrich Savel. Also attending the meeting were leaders of Departments, Divisions and units under the Ministry of Information and Communications.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed issues related to cooperation, development and training of human resources in the field of information security, as well as investment promotion opportunities of Novicom in particular and Czech IT enterprises in general in Vietnam.
Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong informed about the organizational structure, functions and tasks of the agencies and units under the Ministry of Information and Communications, in which the Department of Information Security performs the function of advising and assisting the Minister of Information and Communications in state management and law enforcement on network information security. The Department has the Vietnam Cyberspace Emergency Response Center and the National Cyberspace Security Monitoring Center.
As a proactive Security Operations Center (SOC) provider, according to the Deputy Minister, Novicom can share its experience and technical solutions with the Information Security Department to consider future cooperation options.
Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong emphasized that information sharing between organizations and countries is extremely necessary in ensuring information security. Therefore, it would be very useful if there was a mechanism for Novicom to share with the Information Security Department about incidents or cyber attacks in the Czech Republic and around the world. According to the Deputy Minister, the Information Security Department is currently cooperating to share information with many large corporations and countries around the world.
Agreeing with the Deputy Minister, Mr. Jindrich Savel said that he would come up with ideas for an information sharing platform for information security businesses in particular and information technology in general, helping to improve the capacity to protect network systems and data. He also hopes to become a bridge for Novicom's partners in the field of information technology in the Czech Republic to come to Vietnam to seek business development opportunities.
According to Novicom CEO, the company has experience in managing network system deployment for central and local government agencies. Novicom is also a member of the Czech Cyber Security Association, participating in establishing common standards, new circulars and decrees on information security.
He hopes to share research and development experience with Vietnamese companies, as well as cooperate with Vietnamese partners to help achieve cost-effectiveness when using information security systems.
Welcoming Novicom’s proposals, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong said that the Ministry of Information and Communications is ready to cooperate with the company and the Czech Republic’s business community. Novicom can discuss with the Department of Information Technology and Communications Industry (Ministry of Information and Communications) – the focal point for promoting technology products – and participate in investment promotion conferences with localities, ministries and branches; cooperate with the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology – one of the largest technology training academies in the country – on research and development (R&D) and other programs.
The Deputy Minister also assigned the Department of Information Technology and Communications Industry, the Department of Information Security and the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology to work with Novicom to make specific cooperation proposals in the coming time.
