Sharing experiences, strengthening close connection between the two economies of Vietnam and UAE

On the morning of October 28, local time, in the capital Abu Dhabi, on the occasion of an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated the UAE on its recent achievements with the important contributions of Minister Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri in transforming the economy, developing sustainably, diversifying and digitalizing the economy, promoting innovation, thereby becoming one of the leading financial, economic and technological centers in the region. The Prime Minister congratulated the UAE on successfully organizing the COP28 Conference in 2023; believed that the "UAE Vision 2031" to make the UAE a global economic center and a successful development model for the world will become a reality.

Sharing about socio-economic development, with the view that the Government promotes its role as a facilitator for business development, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam is in the process of transforming the economy, restructuring the economy towards improving quality, efficiency, rapid and sustainable development based on science and technology, innovation, developing digital economy, green economy, circular economy, sharing economy, knowledge economy and suggested UAE share experiences and promote cooperation with Vietnam in these fields.

The Prime Minister appreciated Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, in his role as Chairman of the UAE Subcommittee of the Intergovernmental Committee between the two countries, for his important contributions to promoting bilateral relations, especially completing negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

In the coming time, the Prime Minister suggested that the two sides promote cooperation and share experiences to more closely connect the two economies, create breakthroughs for economic cooperation, promote complementary strengths, especially in institution building, developing financial centers, free trade zones, developing enterprises, attracting talents, promoting research, application of science and technology and innovation; strengthen the organization of trade and investment promotion activities, connecting enterprises; promote people-to-people exchanges, tourism cooperation, and opening direct flights between the two countries.

The Prime Minister also asked the UAE to facilitate the import of Vietnam's key products such as agricultural and aquatic products, fresh vegetables, processed foods, etc.; and to promote cooperation and support the development of the industry. Halal in Vietnam; aiming for bilateral trade turnover of 10 billion USD.

Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements in recent years, and expressed his impression of Vietnam's economic policies, especially in tax exemptions and reductions, investment attraction, etc. The Minister said he was very interested in learning about these policies, and shared some of the UAE's experiences in business development, investment attraction, economic zones, free trade, talent attraction, intellectual property, visa policies, etc., especially procedures for business registration, establishment, and implementation of investment projects in an exceptionally short time.

The Minister thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for his determination and active support during the negotiation of the CEPA Agreement, saying that the UAE side is very pleased and looking forward to the signing of this Agreement, wishing to promote cooperation to maximize the opportunities brought by the Agreement, creating a breakthrough in the economic relations between the two countries. In particular, the Minister said that the UAE wishes to organize a large-scale investment conference in Vietnam with the participation of leading corporations and enterprises in the region and internationally, prestigious speakers to share experiences, promote economic cooperation and attract investment from the UAE and the world to Vietnam. The Prime Minister welcomed and assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment and relevant agencies to coordinate with the UAE side to organize this event.
