Sharing experiences in improving information production efficiency between Vietnam and Cuba

The Granma Newspaper delegation wishes to share experiences in digital transformation to modernize the news production and distribution system, and apply AI technology to improve production efficiency.

On the afternoon of December 3, at the headquarters of the National News Center, the delegation of Vietnam News Agency (VNA) led by Deputy General Director Nguyen Tuan Hung worked with the delegation of Granma Newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of Cuba, led by Mr. Oscar Alberto Sanchez Serra, Deputy Editor-in-Chief.

Deputy General Director Nguyen Tuan Hung welcomed Mr. Oscar Alberto Sanchez Serra and the Granma Newspaper delegation on a working trip to Vietnam at the invitation of Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Introducing VNA, Deputy General Director Nguyen Tuan Hung said VNA is one of the six key national press agencies, providing official information sources of Vietnam to the domestic and foreign press system.

VNA currently has 6 source information units, 10 publishing units, 4 information service centers, 4 units assisting the General Director and 2 printing enterprises. VNA has 63 permanent offices in all provinces and cities nationwide and 30 permanent offices abroad...

Over the years, VNA has maintained a trusted and close cooperative relationship with two Cuban press agencies, Prensa Latina News Agency and the Cuban News Agency (ACN).

In addition, the VNA's permanent office in Havana always performs well its foreign information tasks, promotes the image of Vietnam to the Cuban people and provides accurate and timely information on the situation in Cuba and the region.

According to Deputy General Director Nguyen Tuan Hung, in recent times, VNA has promoted digital transformation in the production and dissemination of information. VNA has established a Steering Committee for Digital Transformation and developed an annual digital transformation plan.

VNA is also focusing on developing highly interactive products, integrating many types, serving digital journalism and spreading on multiple platforms, contributing to vividly and effectively conveying the messages of Party and State leaders, and the key tasks of the nation in the new era.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Granma Alberto Sanchez Serra thanked the leaders of VNA for their warm and sincere welcome and affirmed that Granma was born on October 3, 1965, from the merger of two revolutionary newspapers: Hoy (Today) of the Socialist People's Party (the Communist Party founded in the 1920s, one of the predecessors of the Communist Party later) and Periodico Revolucion (Revolutionary Newspaper) of the July 26 Movement (led by the historic revolutionary leader Fidel Castro).

As the official mouthpiece of the Communist Party of Cuba, Granma currently has about 210 officials, reporters and staff, of which 70% are under 35 years old. The newspaper has correspondents stationed in all provinces and cities of Cuba.

In recent times, the Newspaper has always been interested in the experience of developing a converged newsroom model and modern press organization methods.

With the goal of fighting fake news, convincing the public and not being satisfied with itself, the Newspaper is aiming to expand its voice on social networks, as well as information platforms to fight against false information and defamation by hostile forces.

Through the visit and work at VNA, the Granma Newspaper delegation hopes to have the opportunity to learn and share experiences in digital transformation to modernize the news production and distribution system, and apply AI technology to improve the efficiency of information production.

On this occasion, the Granma Newspaper delegation visited and learned about the operating models of a number of units under the Vietnam News Agency./.
