The IDF announced that commander Faour was killed in a precision strike by an Israeli Air Force fighter jet in the village of Jouaiyya, southern Lebanon, but did not specify when the airstrike took place.
The IDF said he was responsible for initiating Hezbollah’s first attack order on October 8 last year. Since then, Commander Faour has been responsible for numerous attacks from eastern Lebanon against Israeli civilians and soldiers.
According to the IDF, the commander was also responsible for multiple rocket attacks on the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, including an attack on the Druze town of Majdal Shams that killed 12 children and teenagers in July 2024.
Also according to the IDF, another senior figure in Hezbollah's Nasser unit, which commanded drone operations, was killed in the airstrike.
Hezbollah has not yet commented on the above information.
